I had the Capri and the Bugatti both out yesterday for an hour ride each as we have no snow now and a rain has washed away the road salt, and pavement was dry. Best fun in months!!!!

That is a beautiful car. Are the T-tops tinted/clear or are they vinyl covered? Any problems with leaks?
Thanks for posting the pic. Excellent colour as well.

I'm sorry to say, but Esprits are MUCH more rare than Capri's... I know, I own an '86 turbo! Parts are like impossible to find when something breaks. Here are some pics.

You know, for some reason i imagined your Bugatti to be blue. Good to see a yellow one. Tell me, is the body sheet metal or is it GRP? Looks very good either way.

Another classic. Looks to be in mint condition. It's almost 1.30am here and i can't drag myself away. I'm in the UK so Lotus parts are more readily available over here. They're quite a rare car on the roads here now.

I suppose if it was the real deal then it would have to be French blue. I think it would look fresh in any colour except blue. Fibreglass.

Excellent job on the body. The rivets really give the impression of the body being metal. Great illusion. I'm guessing it was moulded from an original.

Mercuryman, I'm sorry to hear that you can't find a Capri where you live. I have three '86's and feel like a glutton sometimes, but I just LOVE them so much. I think they are the best car ever built. I'm sure if you are serious about getting one, someone on this forum should be able to help you find one. One in good shape will be hard to find because people with good ones usually don't want to part with them. You should look for a "not too bad" one and fix it up. It will be expensive getting it shipped to the UK and then shipping all the parts you need also, it just depends on how badly you want one. I wish you luck and thank you for the comment on my Lotus Esprit.

Yep..a good suggestion. I'm not put off by the idea of buying a car that needs fixing up mechanically, it's the thought of corrosion and bodywork that scares me. I suppose my ideal project would be something solid with a blown engine. Mechanical parts i can replace but bad paint is something i'd have to live with. I don't fancy that much.

I fancy your Esprit though. Cracking looking car.

Really nice. I bet that trim is murder to keep clean. Can't make it out from the pics but is that fabric or vinyl upholstery? Either way it looks lovely. Excellent AV, SchoolBoy. Eliminator is also one of my all time favourite cars. I still have an old copy of a motoring mag that did a head to head between Eliminator and the (at the time) brand new Audi Quattro. Too bad the band killed it off.

    Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the welcome, Merk. I havn't seen many black ones about. I noticed the roll cage, do you race this car? What do you have under the hood? Reminds me of the Mad Max Interceptor.

    Hi MercuryMan
here is my 83 engine bay. Was Ford's 5.0 litre available in any of their models sold in Britain? Wouldn't a vintage Cortina be fun with one of these on board...might scare away the Lotus Cortina boyz on the straight aways.

Info, as far as i can remember Ford never sold any V8 cars here (unfortunately). 5.0lt in a mk3? It'll send most cars running scared, not only the Lotus Cortina. Mind you, A Lotus Cortina, in it's day, was a very impressive car. Lotus seem to get the suspension and chassis spot on every time. Sadly, even the hottest of what Ford had for sale here couldn't compare to what was on offer accross the pond.

I like your colour coded bonnet stay. Very natty.

I drive it alot in the summer its my toy , and yes i race it . It got a 408w in it i built last winter i`ll put it this way it runs 10`s in street trim on pump gas only diff from race to street is i drop the m/t radials to 12 psi and pull the plugs out of the warlock muffs,
Not bad for a 3500 pound car with full everything only thing it lack is a/c cuz the car didnt have it before .

MercuryMan, the upholstery is white leather. The factory took the seats out of the car and had them done in new york and then reinstalled them.

It looks really nice. Reminds me of the innards of some 70's and 80's Italian exotica. Do you have anymore pics of the trim that i could see please? I'd like to show someone over here. Many thanks if you do.
