    Default Back up and running---woooohooooo

While I don't post often these days, I do try to hit the forum at least once a day to see what is going on. Been a hard few weeks, and it appears I'm the first to realize the site is back up and running.

My thanks goes out to all who administrate the site, and have clearly spent countless hours working on restoring the forum.

    Sincerely,

    Bill S.

I was wondering if anything was going to happen to save the site and glad they managed to figure it out!

ITDude's concern about the site being "not secure" still lingers it seems but that may not have been why the site went down.

I too am glad to see this forum back from the dead. I was beginning to wonder if it would be resurrected. Seems like not too much traffic back yet, hopefully more will discover it is back up and running.

    Agree with all your comments.

A mass email sent out to member's email addresses on record letting them know the site is back up would help. I wonder if that's even possible!?

After the first couple days of the site being down I just assumed it was dead and gone forever, but I kept the bookmark and checked now and then to see if it would come back. I was really surprised when it came up tonight when I clicked it. Glad to see it back, it's like me, an oldie but goodie.

Still no SSL certificate on the site, but that's not a huge deal since there aren't any payment methods going on directly here, and limited personal details. Just make sure you have a good complex password (especially with no option for MFA). SSL certs are cheap and there isn't much excuse not to have one outside of laziness in this day and age. I'll die on that hill.

I don't know for sure but I bet it was the board software itself and/or the SQL server+database behind the scenes. So many outdated oversights that can run away with you if you don't keep up with it.

    Agree.

I (hesitantly) contributed another $20 with the link above as a "thank you". I can only hope that it actually goes towards maintenance and upkeep. The information buried here is worth a few bucks to say the least.

    Cheers

I'm still having issues with my work laptop connecting properly (Formatting is all messed up. I just get a text-based forum), but it's been fine on the home PC and other laptop.
