Nice to meet everyone. Looking forward to putting some love into this 83GT that has spent the last 20+ish years parked.

Welcome to FEP.
It looks like the 20+ years parked must been in a very protected area!

I never seem to get the nut that holds the steering wheel fixed
It was in a detached garage, needs a new heater core, I believe a mouse moved into the heater blower area, carb needs rebuilt, and other more minor things. Body has only a few spots of minor surface rust and is super solid. Like I said needs some TLC and some driving.
Welcome, Beautiful 83, it looks like it has had a lot of love already. Love the color the blue stripe and those wheels bring it altogether.
Welcome to the site! Sweet looking ride!
Did you know the previous owner or did you just come across it for sale? Show more pictures when you get a chance. We all like to look at pictures!

I like the body kit on it. Unlike so many of the aftermarket ones, that one looks good.
All, I tend to lurk more than I post, but I have been actively working on my 83GT.
After driving her some last year, I started to notice some oil leaks and such crop up. Not surprising considering how long she sat.
These past winter months I've been slowly tearing down and fixing various things:
Pulled the dash to fix the AC and heat, and also evict some unwanted guests. Also removed the rest of the interior to clean up and paint some plastics as well as replace the carpet and headliner.
In the middle of painting some plastics now, so no pictures yet. To be continued in next post.
So I pulled the engine to tear it down and replace seals and clean things up. Of course I can't do that without making some improvements along the way.
Disassembly:
Start of Reassembly With TFS 170 heads and new roller rockers:
To be continued.
More Reassembly:
With an expected increase in power I managed to find a local 8.8 rearend that I'm refurbing to replace the 7.5 while I'm already going nuts. It's amazing how you can always find something else to improve.
More to come.
Debated on what to do with the rearend, but had some unused grey POR-15 that I used to cover the cleaned up bare metal. I also pulled out the factory 2.73 gears to put in some 3.55s.
The rearend and the engine at this point are ready to go back into the car. So hopefully I'll get that done in the next couple of weeks, along with getting the dash back in place.
I feel a little crazy at this point with everything I've decided to try and take on.
Always good to see other people tearing into cars and keeping them alive! Good job on the progress! Car looks great from the pictures. I'm diggin those old skool rims!!! Nice!
You have been ambitious! 83 was always my favorite 4 eye.
F'in mice are always a problem, I thought I would be smart and store my car with some Warfarin in it to keep them out. Mice moved in anyway, ate the poison and died under my heater vents. Had to gut the interior to get rid of the smell.
That’s a nice looking car you have there! Welcome !
and this deserves a build thread!
May your car bring you as much excitement and anticipation as my 85 Saleen clone build has brought me and also as much joy as my worn out old 1986GT has brought me along the way.
Thanks everyone.
Yeah I keep thinking I have been too ambitious, but I'm pushing through.
What part of the forum do build threads go? I could start one and post a lot more pictures than what I did here.
