Default My 1985 T-roof

It has taken me a while to get around to showing off my ride. I've been on here over two years, and had my 85 for a little less than two years. I've posted plenty of pics over time but thought I'd do something more formal. In the future I'll add pics/mods more up to date so I can keep a timeline on here.

So here goes. This is what it looked like when I picked it up May of 2008:

It had 101,000 miles on it. I bought it from the third owner, and he knew the car from day one. It was his highschool friends Mom's car. Mostly original with untouched motor, tranny, and carb. Mods included an 8.8 with 3.73's, underdrive pullies, sub-frames, and exhaust. What I liked most was the mostly original drivetrain, milage, and history. Oh, and I only wanted a black 85, 5 speed, T-top car period!!!!

This is what it looks like now:

Some of the work I've done includes the following:
Built a sub/amp box that allows storage of the t-tops

New carpet and cleaned the floormats

Sound deadener front and back

Cleaned up the whole underside and put in a new steering rack
Before pic:

After pic:

Cleaned up the engine

Additional stuff I've done (no pics):
1. I broke a head bolt on a dyno so I did both head gaskets when I fixed that. It put out 191hp and 242tq.
2. Tinted windows
3. Head unit/sub/amp/speakers
4. B springs and new front struts
5. Painted wheels twice (gray befroe I did the black)
6. Rear seal
7. Hurst shifter
8. Painted all the trim
9. Painted the hood different and added the decal
10. Removed mudflaps and all the decals that were on it when I got it
11. 235/60/15's
12. New choke
13. New door glass guides
14. Adjusted all the weatherstripping for the doors/t-tops.
15. Probably a bunch more stuf I can't think of!!!!

Thanks for looking, and I'll update in the future in addition to adding links to any write-ups I've done.

Tyler

Nice ride. I like the speaker set up in back. I might have to borrow your design.

Thanks Joe,
I actually like ten holes. I wish they were wider though. I'd really love some 97 OEM Cobras or 93 Aftermarkets though

Thanks. That 12" Kicker is a bit much, but I had it also. An 8 would be perfect.

Funny. I remember driving/street dragging a girl friends black GT car back when it was new.

Thanks. And I love the honesty. The black theme isn't for everybody.

I have two sets. One black and one original. I had the original wheels back on the last two weeks from going to the drag strip, and was like, huh....they look pretty good!!!

Yeah, nice '85 T-Topper.

I like the variation on the upholstery (how it has that kind of "suede" look to it). Very nice GT, my friend.

Thanks. Something about the aftermarket upholstery looks very shiny in the pics. Jeff also pointed out it is kinda green looking.

I have to clean up the carpert on my door panels now 'cause they look bad against the new carpet!!!

Looks good! I am the second owner of my car and the original owner special ordered it from the factory. So i know what you mean about knowing the history of the car.

I just went back and reviewed the box construction. Too bad you lost the other photos, but let me ask you a question. It appears that the area under the woofer is tapered towards the front, correct? And the thin areas' for the T-Tops handle edge, are they also hollow..lastly,the square area under the amp,and on the opposite side,is all that hollow as well?

I love how it fits under the cover . I've got a Rockford Fosgate box with 2 12's,but there is no hiding it!

Thanks. I've had several older cars and have learned having original drivetrain and solid history is very helpful in the long run. Man, Second owner...I'm jealous!!! That would be very nice. How long have you had it?
