99-04 Gt weighs more than a LTD LX, those years of Mustang are heavy.

They should fit though, basically the same suspension, but may not sit or work like you want it to.

well i was thinking a set of moroso or eibach drags springs in the rear from a 99-04 GT. i think that will complete my setup..i already have stock springs with lakewood 90/10' struts in the front and lakewood 50/50's in the rear with a built 8.8 with adjustable upper and lowers

Kanarman, the Fox vehicles developed in 1978 were more than Mustangs. The same parts that swap into the 4-eye Mustangs from the SN95 and newer cars swap into our Fairmonts, Zephyrs, LTDs, Cougars...

Of course there are differences, but for example my project is a 1980 Zephyr Z7 Coupe; the only parts dating from 1980 are the body, dash and the engine block (and the block is not from a Zephyr). Everything else is from the 2000+ era including Cobra IRS and brakes, T5 transmission (hoping to move to T56 later), seats from an SN95 GT...and so on.

You'll find it's well within the scope of the 4EP forums to discuss modernization and upgrade of the 4-eye cars, as much as we discuss restoring them to stock or just keeping them on the road.

So kick back and enjoy!

Ben

the reason im wanting to swap my rear springs out is becuase the stock ones are sagging really bad and the 99-04 spring rates are close to the specs of the LTD LX springs which arent made anymore

Which springs aren't made any more?

I can get you all the stock replacement springs you want.

What rate do they need to be?

I have standard and variable rate springs available.

The closest you can get to original LTD LX are the Motorsport (FRPP) "C" springs, which are the right rate in the front (600 lb/inch) but lower load rating. You might try 03/04 Cobra or 02/03 Mach I front springs (also 600 lb/inch).

Doesn't the 03/04 Cobra have the IRS and thus the rear springs are physically different?

free bump.

Ok the nonsense that I posted was a couple or replies that I recived from ltngdriver and a moderator fox? I asked a simple question and got those responses. Now I look like the tool. I guess my post count is to low to get respectful advice from those two long time members
other than that have a great day men.

Ben, my prior post suggested Cobra or Mach I front springs, not rear.

just a heads up....the 99-04 springs made the LTD sit lower in the back....taking them off and putting the stock springs back in

Default Giggity

I thought this thread could use a laugh....

Here's what happened when a friend of mine put 99 Mustang GT springs on the rear of his 93 LX coupe :

And KANARMAN, hate not and be hated not.....

Maybe I'm getting old, but I remember when Ford guys all hung together and only pissed off the Chevy guys, lol....
