Yes, it's been asked a million times. And the answer is the same as it has always been.

NOBODY KNOWS.

Wait until Marti Auto Works gets finished with their work sifting through and databasing Ford's archives. Then we might, and that's a big might, know how many T-roof models were made.

if marti dont come up with a specific answer searching the way he is he might want to try searching by purchase orders for the ttop glass, they had to purchace the glass from carlite so there has to a record of the purchases

" im a auto glass tech so i know there has to be a record of the purchases cause as in every buissness you always keep track of what you buy so you dont loss money on it"

it wount be exact but it will give every one a ball park figure of how many were produced " then you have to give for breakage in the plant and or flawed units and youll also have to give for reorder from dealer due to breakage or damage during or after shipping" but the #'s will at least be a ball park figure of production"

Guess what? Ford didn't do the T-roof (conversions) themselves.

Cars and Concepts, which did the '81-'88 T-roof and '83-'93 convertible conversions for Ford, was later integrated with Creative Industries. Creative Industries was purchased by MascoTech. MascoTech was aquired by Heartland Industrial Partners LP.

Good luck following that paper trail, if it even exists.

Quoto from above.

That wont work either, Cars and Concepts also made the kits the the dealers and t-top shops installed in cars after they got the the dealership. I have done a little research and haven't found anyone else that made t-top kits for mustangs.

but ford still purchased the glass from CARLITE as we al know carlite is OEM glass for ford

ford may have not done the convertion them selves but they had to purchase the job or contract

plus the ttop glass was made to fords specifications to fit the roof line

if MARTI could find a copy of the contract it should have a contracted number of units per year or a total number of units for the complete production of ttop cars

C&C did the entire conversion, from start to finish, including supplying all the parts.

Ford sent assembled hatchbacks and coupes to C&C. C&C did the T-roof and convertible conversions (cut windows frames off doors, cut entire roofs or sections off, installed tops, trim, weatherstripping, glass, etc.). They then sent the cars back to Ford for leak testing.

Are you sure the glass is Carlite? Since Ford didn't purchase it directly, maybe C&C used different glass.

I don't know...never had TTop glass to look at.

Awesome!! So all we need to do is see where C&C dumped their trash cutouts and count them and catalog the colors, match them up to production years somehow and voila!! (would the cutout remains be identifiable as hatch or coupe?)...lol...

Seriously, I'd also really like to know how many T-Top GT's in '82 and how many with factory a/c?

Default T Top Numbers

Another way to get the numbers is that if Kevin Marti has all the Eminger Invoices for all Mustang GT Cars, They would have the T Tops as an option listed on it. That would take alot of hours shifting through invoices to sort out the Mustang GT's from the other Mustangs since GT was an Option also. Then sort out the GT's that have the T Top Option.

But as with the 67-79 Mustangs, Kevin Marti has the FORD database, if it has an option order and was built, Kevin will be able to provide you the numbers. When will the 80-86 years be available? Only Time Will Tell!
