Default 85 GT build sheet location?

Where would one look to find the build sheet in an 85 GT convertible?

Thanks, Rob

many people find the build sheet under the carpet, sometimes under the rear portion where a rear passengers feet would be.

Most common location is where eeprete said.

Also can be...

under bottom portion of rear seat
under hatchback carpet
under spare tire
behind interior quarter panels

Why do they seem to hide it? Why would it be placed in different locations? Just seems random that they would be placed in different locations in the same year/model.

Thanks, Rob

Not even supposed to be in the car. But it was easier to keep or throw them in the car that throw them in the trash.

good luck!! I've been trying to find the one in my 85 GT Convertible for sometime now!!! its was a piece of cake on my 85 GT hatchback...it was right under the carpet behind the front passenger's seat. I can't find it anywhere on the ragtop. maybe this had something to do with the convertible conversion when they took things apart to cut the tops?? don't know just guessing....let me know if you find yours, I've run out of places to look short of removing the entire interior...

As FoxChassis says, they are not supposed to even be in the car, but sometimes its easier to dump them there than the garbage. I wish mine were in better condition when I pulled up my carpet. It was literally disintegrated with the largest portion being about a 3 x 2 triangle.

Thanks, Rob
Most likely the build sheets are in different locations because Dearborn ran a two shift operation... the person doing the job on day shift would put it in one spot that was different than the person doing the job on afternoon shift... believe it or not, disposing of the build sheet is a element on a person's job... like eeprete and FoxChassis said the build sheets are not to be there.

I understand guys...that they were not supposed to be there..I'm just in denial that maybe my car was one of the ones that they actually followed the correct protocol. I have to believe its in here somewhere, I just have to probably take everything out, just not willing at this point. My odds are good that atleast one of the many build sheets for my car is insome crazy little corner all smooshed up.

Rob...post some more pictures of your car...ours looks pretty similar in condition and mileage.

Yes, you need to completely remove your interior to be sure.

I found one in a 82 last summer stuffed into the seat springs and foam under the front seat.

Lol given it's a vert he's mostly there.

Unless anything needed to be removed I would not bother Tony. If you have to do quarter window motors at some point you'll know for sure. Perhaps you have a Tuesday or Wed car and they were doing Job 1 that day.

I had my 85 GT taken completely apart. It was a shell on jackstands. The build sheet was not in it anywhere. OR Someone else found it before I bought the car. My 84 didn't have one either. Hopefully I can find one in my Fairmont Wagon and Zephyr Z7 When I tear into them. Good luck.

Thanks for cheering me up....J/K.....mine has never been apart, so it's either there or not...the original owner couldn't find it either.

Do you still have it? Can you take a pic of it or scan it, and post it?
