Default 1979-93 ford mustang floor pan reinforcement panel

Anybody have any experience with this? I'm wondering if this would be big enough to replace my damaged area.

So now I'm asking myself, "why was the snake there....snakes eat mice, right? And how the heck long was he there to shed 4 skins?"
I'm afraid to look in my heater box

That is an add on piece for under the rear seat mounts, under the car. They came on the SSP cars. It won't fix your damage. In Trey's 82 build, he added those along with some MM subframe connectors, after repairing his floor. He added them saying he was a bigger guy, and already had them. So, if I had to guess, if your over 200 pounds, I'd throw them in after the floor repair, along with some frame connectors.

I bet that fan wasn't working up to it's optimal performance. I'm curious if you've found the snake's bedroom or his pantry there.

That's it exactly, welded on under the front seat rear bolt brackets. They are a seperate thing. I think you're still stuck with needing a chunk of unmolested floor to replace your cracked one. I intend to add those to my blue car myself.

Unfortunately the car has been kept in the dark too this week- inside the shop with the door closed! The boy is back at college and the floor pan is a small hurdle. I've got the headliner project going but need to modify a standard roof headliner board. I decided I'd go ahead and rebuild the power window motors and guides since I had the doors blown apart. Once I get these two projects knocked out then I'll fix that floor so I can start getting it all back together. Hope to have some pictures this weekend.

Got some time this weekend to work on cleaning up and restoring the interior trim. I tried a couple of SEM Color Coat colors but wasn't really happy with them so I went to LMR and ordered their custom made 82-83 Red. I was afraid it was going to be too bright (Porno Red) but I was very pleased with the way it turned out. A tip to anyone going to do this project- be sure to properly prep the materials and don't spray unless the temperature is at least 70 degrees. I have most of the interior done but here are a couple of the best pictures.

    AFTER CLEAN AND PREP:

FINAL RESULT: its not really as bright as it looks in this picture. Flash may have been on. The color is much closer to Canyon Red.

I'm doing this very soon. I bought 3 cans of the SEM, so hopefully it works out nice. Panels look great!

We took my '68 convertible to have it estiated for a bunch of metal work etc. We were looking in the back left wheel well and there was two black snakes tangled in there. Freaked us out. Took the car back home and they were gone the next day.

Just a FYI watch the SEM cans they tend to spit globs when you first start spraying them.

Jim the panel looks fantastic! Did you use any adhesion promotor or is that what the middle prep can is?

I tried the Portola Red from SEM and was super happy with the coverage and it had just the right amount of luster but the color was too bright for me. If you have a black interior than you should be good but might need more depending how much you are redoing. I'm doing everything except door panels and dash right now.

Yeah, that looks awesome. I used SEM Napa Red on my the interior panels of my 82 and it turned out great.

^^^^This X10. I threw out I don't know how many SEM Napa red cans that would only sputter and spit out blobs of paint. No matter the temperature or how many minutes of shaking or swapping of nozzles. Worst product on the planet. It's not cheap either.

Looks terrific by the way. Came out nice. That red interior is a hard color to photograph accurately. I ended up with a Rustoleum color believe it or not and it also came out nice. That LMR color looks fine to me.

Absolutely Adam! You can come by and see my collection of treasured fox body cars & parts or, as everyone else calls it, my piles of junk! With the red/red 83 GT torn apart and a parts car slowly being picked apart the shop is a complete wreck but visitors are always welcome.

Default Lets get past this hurdle

So the dreaded Fox Floor Failure has slowed us down. Got a new floor pan and a little time on an afternoon this weekend so decided it was time for the cracked floor pan to go.

Next I will have to cut up the new pan and clean up the old floor to get it ready for welding. After that hopefully we can get back to the pretty stuff!

Default Got lucky with a parts car

Not too much new to report. Still working to get the floor pan welded in. Same old story, too many other projects. This car didn't have a dash pad in it when we pulled it from out from the lean-to barn so I thought I would just have to throw in a pretty rough black one I have sitting around the shop. I bought a stripped down 83 GT convertible and was amazed to find the dash in perfect condition. I haven't cleaned it up yet but I expect I will have to redye it so it matches the rest of the interior. Here is a not so pretty picture because I know how everyone here loves pics!

I started and moved the '83 GT today probably for the first time since the last post. Hardly fought at all to get started, even with a junk Edelbrock on it.

Fighting an issue with it not wanting to increase RPM past around 2,000. Really, really, really feels like the exhaust is restricted. Drilled a hole before the 2nd cat in the y-pipe and didn't have excessive back-pressure. Looks like the passenger side manifold has a cat before it meets to merge... could have an issue there.

    I'll check back in when it's 2021
