I have an 86 Convertible. Top has been redone but everything on the car is stock, with the exception of the exhaust system.

I like the TRXs. I don't know what it is about them, but I like them.

I'm currently working on a 1979 Ghia Notchback. I have TRX wheels, but can't afford the tires. LOL. Do you have a "For Sale" thread for your '79 PC? Our distance makes me unable to seriously consider purchasing, but I would like to see some pictures, if you have some. To keep this thread clean, would you PM me your link? Hopefully, I'll find it, but with all the pictures on this site, I'm easily distracted.

    Hi new on here,

Bought this in may 2016, I am the 2nd owner and it has done 64,000 km. All original, it is a Ford of Switzerland import from 1979, and it is classed as a veteran here (as long as it stays original)

Steve, if you drain and refill the coolant, you have to remove the hose from the heater core to the metal pipe that passes just above the thermostat to "burp" the air bubble out of the cooling system when filling the radiator. Just loosen the hose clamp at the metal pipe, and allow the air to pass out of the hose until you get coolant coming out. If you replace the thermostat, located at the bottom of the block, under the power steering pump, try to get one with a bleed hole in it and install with the hole at the highest point.

Agreed, the 2.8 has a "special" refill method. I never heard about needing or having a bleed hole though.
BTW that looks like a real nice car Steve!

I have made this method of radiator fluid re-filling the only way I fill any car or truck radiator I have owned to this day.

Been doing this since High School in the Mid-70's as that was the only way I could refill the coolant in my 1971 BB Corvette.

Most times particularly on a Chebby I fill the engine through the highest heater hose connection on the engine and "Burp" through the radiator or heater core.

Consequently I have never had a "Air Bubble" issue in a vehicle cooling system!

Check out me in HS with my Flared and Roll Bar equipped BB Corvette!

Hi, thanks for info, perfect timing! next weekend I am planning to drain, flush and refill the system. I have done the gearbox, as it was not shifting properly, drained, cleaned the filter and electrical connections works as advertised now. So just the brake system and rear axle after that.

    wilsst, nice notch.
Burping the coolant, my 79 Capri had a 3/8 inch plug in the goose neck I used to get the air out.
I can't remember if it was original or someone wanted an easier way to do the job.

Good day: I have a 1986 mercury capri rs with 61000 original miles. I puchased it new in 86 when I was 24 yrs old.the only thing that's not original is the plugwires. In 1990 we built a new home way out in the country with nothing but gravel roads, so I pulled it in the garage in the garage in 1990 and it's been there ever since.I've put roughly 1500 miles on it since then.I have everything that came with the car including the build sheet and sales brochure. It's bright red/with grey interior, sunroof, power windows, premium sound,a/c delete, 5spd.
