    Default replaced washer fluid pump

    Washer fluid pump quit working.
Checked connections with test light. OK.
Bought new 4.00 pump ele pigtail from NPD.
Replaced pump with new Trico #11-506 Superpump for 13.00, in stock at O'Reilleys.
    Made in USA.

Took tank completely out. Cleaned tank with Simple Green.
Emptied and discarded coolant from the coolant tank side. Dirt was on the bottom.
Prob gets in from the gap at the overflow hose opening.

    Removed old retaining ring.
Old pump is hard to get out and have to be careful not to crack tank when prying.
Pulling on the pump ele connector walls only cracked off the plastic.
Pulling on one of the pin connectors with channel locks popped it out.
Old pump did not spin freely like the new one. Started to rust.

Lubed new pump seal with powdered graphite per instructions.
Installed the new retainer which fell into the grass.
    Installed and connected new pigtail.
Filled with plain water to check for leaks and operation. OK.
Topped off with washer fluid and fresh coolant on the other side.
    Works great. Took one hour.

Pulling out my gas tank for the bazillionth and I hope to God LAST time. Putting a boatload of new parts on to address my fuel vapor smell problem. If this doesn't fix it, the car may go off a cliff.

Replaced the bad wiring on the voltage regulator connection. As you can see it has shorted out previously! Scary!

I ordered this one. I also got a tool to be able to remove the wires, so I ended up using the new wires with my original connector so I could stay with the grey connector. But the red one that comes with this is correct. I did not need all six wires it comes with.

The tool I used came in this set(Center one in Picture):

    Hope this helps!

Last night I completed phase 2 of my "quiet the exhaust" project on my 86 vert. Car is mainly stock with the exception of flow masters and 2.5" tail pipes, even has the smog equipment including the factory stock catted h-pipe.

The car failed state inspection a few weeks back due to being "too loud". Results next week when I take it back for re-inspection....

Don't even get me started about the "issue" here in Mass. This car passed state inspection for the last several years from the same inspection station with no changes to the car whatsoever. The old tech retired and the new one feels the car is too loud.

Bunch of BS - but at lease I do have a plan.

From what a friend of mine and I have noticed, the same mufflers on the same car but with different diameter systems, the 2 1/2" was quieter than the 2 1/4". I guess your inspection station is like customer service, it all depends on who you get the day you call as to what they can do for you.

Good to have a backup plan! Glad I live in a state that does a lot of things wrong and backwards but at least they don't have any emission testing standards

I've got 60 days to "fix" the problem. Then I can take the car back to the same station for a free re-inspection. Waiting until next week since it's the start of a new month, next year it will need re-inspection also in Aug. Otherwise it's $35 bucks down the toilet.

If I go to another station (especially too quickly) and get a sticker, it could throw a flag in the system.....

My state has a louder than stock law. Fortunately, cars 25+ yrs old are exempt from it and emissions. All I have to worry about is meeting the legal noise level.

I dropped (literally) the fuel tank of the Vert today to get ready to replace all of the dry rotted gasketing and check the in tank pump and sending unit. After it slid off of the jack i was using to stabilize it, dumping a 1/4 tank of whiskey colored gas all over myself and the garage it soon became apparent it just turned into a bigger job than expected as it has some internal corrosion and tons of varnish in it that needs to be addressed.
