I would guess like most things Ford did, that was probably a "running change" but 1984 was the first official year for that. 79-83 got the 1 piece.

Yes - my 79 Indy Pace Car also has the single rear fold-down seat.

Good to know. I know the 84 SVO had the split rear seat, but was never sure when they changed over...

Also installed both the hatch molding clips and windshield clips:

This is the top of the drivers side a-pillar, where I ended up rebuilding the metal due to rot. So I had to pop-rivet the clips (used seam sealer to keep it water tight):

Last thing I did was get a sliver sharpie. Never tried this before, but it worked great. Here is the "GT" emblem that goes on the pass side dash bezel:

I used the Sharpie also and liked it. One day I will look at the chrome tape to see what it's about but would do this again. Looking great Joe!

Ok, today was glass day! Local company came to the house to do the install. I pulled both the front and rear glass a while ago and had them stored in my basement. Now they're finally one with the car again.....

I've kept the inspection sticker just for fun....

In talking with the glass guy, this is the (or maybe an) original windshield, W-900 p/n

And the rear is in as well.

Now I can get busy with the wet sanding and buffing and then work on installing the trim / moldings.

Actually, not really. I'll just be happy to have it complete. I have the SVO, Pace Car, and Vert to drive....

Yeah, I"m in the home stretch but there is still a pretty good list of small things that needs to be completed.

It is the factory color called medium red (color code = 24) - sprayed in base coat / clear coat.

    Wet sanding has commenced....

I thought it was medium red 24, but it looks darker to me for some reason. That's color I want when I find a good 82 to restore. Nice work by the way!

Thanks. Started wet sanding today. Cold outside (same last weekend), but cranked up the heater and got to work.

Ahhhhhhh the fun of cutting and buffing. Your car will look so nice when you're done though. I like the buffing part, seeing your hard work start to shine.

What compound system are you using to rub your car?
