    Default Convertible Well Trim Molding.

This thread is more about the gaskets that go under the trim...mine are shot.

I've looked all over without luck, and I'm sure that the ones sold by FMR come without the rubber seals.

Does anyone know where I can buy these?

    Thanks.

I believe the gaskets are known as the lower will trim molding. I've seen a few places carry them. I will try to find the links. I too need the same.

The 83-86 are not being made. The 87-93 are being remade. The shape is the same because the 1/4 panel is the same. I have had customers in the past use the 87-93 gaskets on their earlier car. I believe you have to trim the front and add a few holes for the mounting studs. But once installed they look the same.

I looked at them when I just had the top redone on my 85 and could not figure out how they come off. I suspect the hinges off the trunk are partially holding them on and I need to remove those before mine goes to paint as I have some like new ones to put back on.

Ok cool, post what you can, if you find out how to.
    Thanks.

The moldings should have studs on the bottom, which bolt to the quarter panel. Below is a scan of page 53 of the Convertible Service Manual. You can see where the three studs attach (near the quarter panel edge) and the screw is. The studs should have nuts that are accessible from within the back seat area after you take out the interior trim panels and well lining.

very clean solution. Did you use the 87-up gaskets? or custom make something?

    looks great.

Yep! 87-93 gaskets... and 87-93 moldings believe it or not, everything worked just fine.

The gaskets do need to be sniped about an inch at the front , and the molding has a tab at the front that also needs to be clipped away, but other than that is pretty straight forward.

    Thanks again..

Edit: The moldings are pre '86, not 87-93 like I stated before. My bad
Thought I'd clear that out before somebody goes out and gets the wrong parts.
