Default Dark metallic brown paint recommendations

    Hi Guys

I am getting my 1987 Crown Victoria repainted and I need some opinions on what color to get. I am having trouble finding brown paint. I want this car to be a dark metallic brown color and I am having no luck finding paint codes for such a thing. Pictures of recommended dark brown colors with metallic would be highly helpful along with paint codes and brand names. I am getting frustrated and need some input.

Look for a 78 Mustang II Medium Chestnut Brown, pretty good looking metallic brown in my opinion. Hope this helps.

I couldn't find any pics quickly, but a member here (Blue86) has a brown 86 coupe that looks great. I think it's called dark sable. Anyway, maybe ask him or he will see this and throw a pic in this thread for you, but it's a fantastic color. That being said, I'm a little partial to brown hues

Close, but that pic looks like the standard black with orange stripes, not the metallic brown I was thinking of. The brown Mustang II's, especially the King Cobra's are pretty rare so finding a good picture example may prove to be difficult.

Good luck with your search, that Mini color isn't bad tho!!

Got nothing on what was on my '78 Zephyr. You wouldn't have noticed from 5ft but the paint had a very fine metalflake that was mostly gold but also some greens and reds showing. Absolutely stunning up close in the sunlight which I would never have figured for a brown. I doubt the car was ever repainted which would mean that was a Ford color, but unfortunately the car is 25 years gone so I have no clue what the color code would be.

Here's a pic of it filthy, and from another zip code. Yes, that is a cat under there. I should've taken a picture up close to show what I'm talking about, but there would always be another one around the corner if I needed it. Yeah, right!

Check out the 2010 Buick Enclave brown, its real nice in person.

Volvo also has a nice brown in their line up but I think its more like a bronze color.

Also, I remember someone here painted their mustang a Ferrari bronze/brown which looked sick.

Could have been Called Dark Brown Poly. http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorli...rcury-pg01.jpg

I like that because it is dark. Most newer colors are too light. Need a nice strong color on a car of my size.

Thanks for the compliment! I too am partial to earth tones & unusual colors!

Here are some pics of my '86. It's a Ford factory color called "Dark Clove Brown Metallic". The color code is "8Y". Some Ford literature calls this color "Dark Sable" also. I really love this color & how much the color varies in different light.

Yeah 8y is the current paint code of the car according to my door sticker.

I just went to the Mini Dealer and the paint on the Hot Chocolate Metallic cars looked REAL nice! Probably will go with that!
