I'm hoping to get down to my buddies bodyshop next week to check on any progress. Being up here in the upper midwest, progress is dictated by the amount of winter accidents the shop has to work on. I agreed to have it done over the course of the winter so long as it was ready for the drive train to be installed in April in time for the spring/summer cruises. It helped a ton in the cost department if you know what I mean.

Man they must've made more GT's than any other trim level. That ad I mentioned earlier well page two shows a race car with a wide body like a ASC McClaren which is something I had thought of but I wouldnt dare strip the sheetmetal off of a rare McClaren for my MOEM pleasure. It be nice if Dealerships still did that stuff where they made a dealer specific car like in the 60's 70's an 80's.

I've had several PM's on this, so I thought I'd share an update.

I believe the body work and paint will begin in earnest over the next couple of weeks.

In the mean time, I've been collecting parts. Here's a list of what's sitting in boxes:

    - New floor and hatch carpet
    - Hood graphic
    - T-Top headliner
    - 15 piece T-Top weatherstripping kit (ouch, expensive!)
    - New interior screw kit
    - KYB struts and shocks
    - Eibach pro lowering springs
    - Sub frame connectors
    - "Dominator" decal kit (Yes, I did find one!)
    - New Dew Wipes for doors
    - New "GT" side moldings for each quarter, old ones were shot

Yet to be purchase (And the most expense!), waiting on the paint to begin:

    - 302/358 roller motor (Finally setteled on one from ATK engines)
    - T-5z tranny
    - Wheels/tires (Still flopping between Draglites and Cobra R's, leaning Draglite)
    - Header's, leaning towards BBK shorties
    - H-pipe

I'm sure as I put this back together I will have more. It's become a mission, and while I am looking to be cost conscious I won't let cost stop me from finishing.

Pictures coming as soon as the body man gets off his duff and get's to work!

Ok, it's about time. The ball is rolling on the body work/paint. I stopped down Friday to check on a part fit and the car had been powerwashed, was up on small lift and one of the replacement doors beside it on a stand having the black paint being stripped off.

My body guy wasn't there, but his son said they'd finally hit a slow time and they were "getting it on" with the car. He figured it wouldn't take too long now.

Of course, I had no camera. I went back Saturday morning and the shop was locked due to the local BBALL team at a State Tournament.

Pictures coming as soon as I get back down. Feeling good now!

Think it is going to be ready for the car show June 10? I'm going to see what I can get done on mine to try and take it up there.

That is what I am shooting for. If I get the bodywork/paint done by mid April I should have it together for the mid June show.

Yes. I was born and raised in KCMO. Now Im not far from you, lol. The commercial had Golden Earrings "Radar Love" as the music. It showed the car, silver, in various static shots with some stage "fog" swirling around. One thing shown were car silhouettes signifying "kills" like on fighter planes stuck on the drivers door. At the KC new car show one year I asked the salesman if the car came with the decals. He said they didnt, but you could get them if you wanted.

It's a standard hood with a hole cut to match the air cleaner and an '82 Mustang GT scoop made functional on it.

OK I see now. It's looks a lot longer than the Shaker Hood I planned to put on originally. it looks like it extends to the back of the hood.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't had any new pictures.

I went through a lay off (after 12 years!) and started a new job. Between that and the holiday, I haven't stopped down to see if any progress has been made.

As soon as I have some new info, I'll post the pics.

    Hey all, finally progress.

I stopped down this morning, and the passenger floor has been put in, and the entire car is in primer! It sounds like color may get shot next weekend. I am going to try and get some pictures this afternoon to post.

At least the body work is done, and now for the paint!!!!!!!

    I'm getting re-energized again!

A side note to the project:

I picked up a 347 longblock Thursday off of eBay. It wasn't the roller based motor I was going to get (flat tappet based) , but the price was right.

It won't win many races, but it dyno'd at 330hp, 380lbs of torque. It's a crate engine from Blueprint engines, and I scored it for $1700. It isn't a CHP engine, but it should provide some enjoyment in the light foxbody.

I talked directly with them before the purchase. They had done a couple extra dyno pulls on it, then tore it down to check tolerances. They then put it back together but felt they couldn't sell it as new crate engine so they put it on eBay. The combination sells for $3595 on their website.

A buddy of mine repowered his 89 camaro with an engine from them and was very satisfied. We'll see if this was a good thing or not!
