You thought about a 93 convertible motor mount or spacing the K member?
Is there a particular reason you want to stay away from fiberglass?
Here is a shot of my cowl hood.
Fiberglass is only problematic if you buy junk. HO Fibertrends has some very nice quality hoods.

Fibertrends makes a nice hood! But they are not cheap by the time they ship the hood you will be in to it for $700 or so. However you do make a point about the cheap hoods, I know for a fact they suck!! fit is poor, quality is poor, basically you get what you pay for. But $700 for a hood.... Too rich for my blood.

Cervini's and HO Fibertrends both make very nice hoods.
I personally have purchased and owned 5 different Cervini's hoods between Mustangs and Trucks. Just purchased their Saleen body kit (urethane ) wouldn't hesitate to buy a hood from Cervini's.

That can be true. Just keep in mind that most if not all Cervini's hoods are finished on the underside too, so that is where much of the extra weight comes from. If you are building a race car, then there are lighter options. If you want a cool looking hood both open and closed, then Cervini's is hard to beat.

What Trey said. One of the main things to keep in mind is if the mounting points are supported well.....mainly the hood latch area.

I had a champion hood and the fit was really bad. I now have a HO fibertrends and the fit was excellant but not finished under the hood. I had to do a lot of work to finish it.

Thanks for the input guys, no I won’t be wasting my money on a champion hood. Lol
I just realized you're in Ohio, so you can save a lot if you picked on up from HO Fibertrends who is also in Ohio.

So I bought a hood from Ho Fibertrends, got a killer deal since I picked it up myself, but I’m having trouble with it not latching down anyone have this problem ? Or is it just me ?
Have you adjusted your latch or did you just bolt on the hood?
Generally you will need to adjust the hood bumpers for the hood to fit level with the front fenders. Then you will need to adjust the hood latch position relative to the new hood so that the latch catches properly and completely latches to prevent the hood from popping up while driving. Definitely DO NOT drive without the safety latch in place!!!!

Congrats on your purchase. Usually takes a few moments to lower your front latch assembly. On my 97 the hood latch had roll pins to locate it. I had to remove the roll pins to be able to adjust my hood latch. It needed to be lowered and angled to work properly. 9 yrs later, that Cervini hood looks and latches just beautiful!
Here is a pic of my 83 with a Cervini bolt on hood
If you still have problems I'd call Jim and ask him on what to adjust etc. He has a 4I and is a really helpful guy. GL

Ok, first is the latch fully open? Is the hood release cable hanging up and keeping the latch fully open? If needed use a screwdriver to actuate the latch and verify. Pull the hood release cable to unlatch. Push the hood release handle back towards the dash to allow the latch to operate properly. Did you transfer the tongue spring from your original hood?
Next is the latch lined up properly with the hood latch opening side to side? Meaning the square opening in the hood align with the latch tab that sticks up. The hood is not catching on either side of the latch preventing the hood from going down far enough.
If none of those issues exist, then most likely your latch is positioned too low on the core support and can not catch on the hood. Loosen the two bolts on either side of the latch and pull the latch up as high as you can while keeping it in the same relative position side to side. Snug up the bolts and try shutting the hood. Most likely it will latch now, but will sit too high. Now lower the latch a bit each time until the hood latches, but rests just slightly on the front hood bumpers and you should be good to go! Good Luck!
