Picked this one up today 79 RS Turbo ,88,xxx miles. Both quarter windows were shot out of it. No engine or Trans. Ive been thinking of swapping an injected 2.3t setup. keep it simple . a four wheel brake job, new shocks and struts and a 2.3t. Keeping it a good daily driver. any thoughts..pros ..cons? Ihave an 84 RS with a built 351 injected and a 93 Notch with an 03 cobra swap..fun cars..i love swaps!

Well it sounds like you have already been playing around with the big stuff(V-8s), so a 2.3t would seem like the next step in a good all round collection. There are a lot of people on this site that have them, and you can mod them as much or as little as anything else...I'm sure someone will chime in momentarily with some suggestions. I think it would be a fun project, but that's just me....the car looks good and straight, just needs some tlc...good luck with the build. It looks better than mine did when I started.

A 79 RS turbo brings me back to well... 1979. I spent many hours at the local Ford dealership drooling over one of these.

The big question for you is that with your other Foxes and their horsepower, will you be satisfied with the power of a 2.3T? Personally I think it's a great idea and the 2.3T cars can be a lot of fun to drive and get good fuel mileage. If the horsepower bug bites you with the 2.3T you can pump it up to an easy 300 HP, but after that things become a bit more complicated and expensive.

Great project car from the looks of it and glad to see you bringing it back to life! Good luck with the project and keep the pictures coming!

Looks just like the 79 I was going to buy, only to find that they scrapped the car right after my friend told me about it.

Does it have a red, tan, or chamois interior? Neat project

Tan interior..old center console..but all the pieces are there..thrown in the hatch area..wondering if i can find a tan rug or if i should lay a black one down ..and find tan interior paint and add a newer style console..just really plan on keeping it basic..going to order a steel brake line kit and make it injected..i might drop in a 2.3 and get it running and driving..and then slowly collect turbo parts...oh boy!

well, i dug into the car today..Im surprised at this old fox body from Connecticut. Just a dollar sized baseball sized rot hole in the Driver rear floor pan. Other than that..shes got alot of potential. The best part was cleaning out the car and finding every piece of interior and all emblems are intact. Im going to re-glue the headliner. Lay in a new rug and fix the window crank on the driver door. more pics..

The car looks like a great starting place for a cool project. An efi 2.3t and a 5spd would set it up well.

A neat looking starting point. Whatever you do, keep the black/chamois combination, it looked good then and still looks good today.

well..this project is going too easy........today i bought half of a 1986 svo...41k original miles..from the dashboard to the nose..everything included. eng/trans...everything. So i basically got everything i need. Is there a good market for SVO panels? ill have the leftovers. hood, fenders, nose, dash, guages. i got lucky..it was cheap. im not rubbing it in eitherName: 3rf3Jb3qc5I45N95L5d7a26e853e3856a1bf4.jpg

You have an awesome Capri, I love the color combo. I'm not sure how I missed this thread, but I'm glad I found it. Chamois is one of my favorite interior colors, and it looks excellent with the black paint. Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming.
    Cheers!

picked up the SVO powertrain today. I think im gonna leave it on the suspension, lift the body off and roll it under the Capri. wanted to keep the TRX wheels on so i may swap spindles.. but so far so good. i put the quarter windows in the Capri so now its sealed up. Back to work on it tomorrow. I'll post pics soon!
