Fully built? Nothing is fully built. There's always a little more power to be made. Currently, Jon Huber has his 2.3T running 8's. Here's a vid of low 9s from last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhR_IiTIiLI
There's long list of other combos here. |

Yeah, Jon's car is pretty damn impressive. I hear he has a pretty rare racing intake of some sort (Can't remember what it was though). He is obviously a VERY talented man.

Dave Flanders has the fastest 2300 based street car,2.5 liter stock block and crank, aluminum svo head, mechanical alcohol injection.Best ET of 8.85 and best mph of 153.8.
A very close second is Jon Huber, man what a super clean car and a super nice guy.I would say that everyone(including me)would say that Jon has more of a real street car simply because it run on gas,C-16.I do think that he can run it on pump gas with a tune and boost change. As for the fastest 2300 based engine ever,it was Don Nase with the tube frame ranger and later with a dragster.Estimated out put was around 1300 flywheel with a near 3 liter tall deck block,Arca head, custom intake and exhaust with a 82 mm with nos running on alcohol if I remember right. I was lucky enough to witness John's car at the SVOCA Reunion last year, what a BEAST. I believe his dyno #'s were 740 hp 1st run and 770hp his 2nd run, freaking AWESOME. If you ever get a chance to see his car in person, DO IT, you will not be disapointed.

The paint on that car is really nice, as well as all the chrome trim. They stripped the car down for the repaint and it shows their efforts. JDB was throwing down low 9's last time I saw. Both cars have their interiors as well. (Not gutted I mean)

Google Huber and Jon Dell Blair and watch them on youtube for more of a finite clocking. The times (down to the hundredth) is posted at the traps.

A blistering 16 second car from the factory. Very easily improved with a couple extra lbs of boost and ditching that stock air box. Google is your friend. Why do you ask? |

Mid to low 15.s for a stock late SVO mustang. Mid to low 16.s for a stock 87-88 Turbo coupe 5 spd. I think some of the later XR4TIs were in the 15.s stock. Now as for modded cars you are asking all the wrong questions. The 2.3 turbo does not take all the same tweaks as an NA V8 to make them go faster. You are not going to gain much if anything from gears or milling the head. Both lower gearing and milling the head can make the car run slower in some cases. Underdrive pulleys work but are not common because they don't give you much more power. Now the little things that do work are a free flowing straight through 3" exhaust a free flowing air filter and intake pipe and a boost valve so you can turn up the boost pressure.
My 88 turbo coupe ran 16.4 stock. With a home made intake with a K&N filter, hacked off exhaust before the cat, and a home made boost controler it went 14.80 on street tires with a race weight of 3700 lbs. That's a total of less than $50 worth of work without ever touching the motor. In a lighter weight car like a mustang you could easliy go low 12.s without ever opening the motor if you did a couple other things like a good intercooler larger turbocharger and a bunch of boost.
