man! you guys dont know how much fun it is in the way that it runs right now.Im really looking forward to getting the new parts installed.
It already acts like it wants to rip your head off when you leave if your not ready for the launch.
1.48 60 foot's are nothing to sneeze at according to everyone that i run into at the track, but im looking for 1.30's 60 foots when it returns.

my girlfriend was filming and listening to a group of guys betting against me in the stands.1 guy said" i guess ill be the odd man and take the ford for 10 bucks". HE GOT PAID!

i should have left some cash with her to bet for me.i told her she can keep what she wins.she likes that idea.

Not saying yours is a beater......just very unassuming! I think it would be coo l with the steelies for sure.........check my album , I have some pics of my junk in there.

Nice car and video. Have you reinforced/welded your torque boxes? Stick cars are very hard on the upper torque box. Car leaves nice.

1.48 is gettin it done! Mine was 60 footing in the 1.60-1.62 range when the 351W was in it, but now with the 408W I have a best of 1.448. Its still running on 275/60/15 MT drag radials, but I've added an anti-roll bar and subframes so it leaves really flat/straight, with a about a foot of air under the fronts.

Some day I may put the bottle on it and squeeze 125 out of the hole to see if I can rip off a 1.29 60' time

nope,no shortening. i took it and had new u joints and a flange and yoke from stang put on.that was it.bolted right on.the hardest part about finding them in the yards is finding one not bent, due to the forks on the lifts.

Default Hey...... Cyl Head

I was wondering about your Aerostar driveshaft?..........which Aerostar did you liberate it from?...........the shortest wheelbase one?..........do you know the Hollander number for it?........I never realized there were a couple different lengths. Can you provide the center to center measurement?............Thanks!

**edit** 55 1/2 inches center to center of the joints

Default Aero shaft

I'm thinking that the length will have to be around...........49.5'' to 50'' to be the correct lenghth without shortening it. I'm going to check the wreckers and see what I can come up with.........I'll post the results.

Default gettin' the shaft!

Ok......from what I gather..there are two aluminum driveshafts for a RWD 2WD
Aerobus.........one that is 42.75'' weld to weld......(who measures this way?) and one that is about 6'' longer........I have a shortened one on my bench that has not been done well(shortened) and vibrates like a MF!..
The Hollander # for the short one is...43103262A......the long one just subs a "B" for the "A".....
Now, I have measured the weld to the center of the cap on the u-joint and come up with 4" each end. This makes the center to center length around 50.750".......I'll go measure my car shaft and see if that lines up.

...stock Fairmont shaft (302 C4 car) is around 51.250''........so this will work no prob. Difference between 7.5" and 8.8" is about .250" in length......(back of casting where cover locates to) to front of the drive flange........so this all good also. Happy Hunting!

Default re: driveshaft

I think I was a little hasty with my measurements......it seems there are a bunch of shafts and end lengths for the Aero shaft......the 43103262"a" is only 45.5 '' center to center........the wrecker I have been talking to has a bunch of the shafts for different models,so, I just asked them if they have one that falls into the 50'' to 51.250'' range........if they find one , I;ll ask them what Hollander # it is and get what model bus it came from..................what a pain in the ass!.....It may even come from a long wheelbase AWD bus........I'll post if they find one.
