From what I have figured out its a pretty straight forward swap although I'm looking to run a T-5 or TKO600 trans. This wont be a drag car, just a weekend cruiser.
I guess I'm looking for general info on the swap and some pictures for reference.
Thanks,
Eric

I wouldn't bother with the T5, even behind a mild 460 it will have a short life. You can get a quicktime bellhousing to mate the TKO600 to the BB. I've had 3 460 powered cars, most important part of the swap is to set the cooling system up properly, especially since it will be a street car. Those are 2 great sites for getting BB into a Fox.

Yes those sites are great (still waiting on approval from 460ford so I can post).
Seems unless its a auto no one likes the manual setup no matter what trans you run. It has to be a stick, I cant do auto.
Thanks for the input though.

That's cause they can't shift and a C6 is an easy swap.

ford motorspots make a complete swap kit. It's pricy but it has everything except exhaust.

Actually I referred to the T5 as a poor swap, the TKO600 is a great idea and it'll handle a bit of power.

Not so much that people cant shift, a well built 460 based stroker will grenade almost any manual trans except something like a jericho. If the car hooks anyway.

BTW, Forte's website

Great info guys. I have a 84 2WD F-350 with a great running 460/C6 in it. So the way I read it, the C6 is the easiest swap??

The C6 will be a tight fit. You might have to take a sledge hammer to the trans tunnel or grind down the ribs on the case.

Yeah I have no problem cutting up the trans tunnel.

A warmed over C4 will do fine, just buy a JW or PA muti fit bellhousing. Theres no need for a C6.

Those other stampings dont mean much, D1VE is a '71 block and the D3 heads are '73. The heads kinda suck, the use a pedestal system for the rockers similar to the late 5.0's. To run screw in studs you have to machine the rocker boss down then tap it. Might be worth it to find some C8 or C9 heads or maybe DOVE-C heads if you can find 'em. Talk to Scott aka "The mad porter" on the 460 forum.

Default 514 swap

I'm in the process of doing the same swap in my Fairmont. I bought a McLoud bellhousing and it is too big in the starter area and the headers hit on it. I am using the Accufab mid length headers trying to have room for my exhaust under the car. My Mont sits pretty low and full length headers would hit on speed bumps and the like. I bought a Quicktimes bellhousing and it is a bunch smaller in diameter than the McLoud. Good luck, Ken.

Yep, because you can actually use steel ped 460 rockers on a 5.0 and they are 1.7 ratio.

Considering how cheap you got the block.. why not get some edelbrock heads or even Trickflow makes 460 heads??

Forged hi compression pistons
with basic 030 bore
figure intake and cam

You could have a 400hp 600lb Tq 460

Down the road I'll run the Edelbrocks. I'm going to port the stockers for now, rockers, cam, intake, etc. Just the basics for now,

Better upgrade the front brakes and lighten the front of the car. 460s are very heavy.

I have PBR's I'm going to run up front. The whole car is going to be stripped out so weight isn't a concern.

Good luck finding rockers for the pedestal mount heads. If you want a good set of rockers you're going to have to have the machine work done to install screw in studs and guide plates.
