    Default 1980's accessories and ideas

    Hey everyone!

This topic is a little different and I'm looking for some creative ideas.

I keep a case of cassettes and a stuffed ALF plush buckled up in the back seat. It was mine from when I was a kid and it's a fun touch. I use the cassettes pretty regularly when I'm out cruising around too.

Often times when I'm at a show or one of my buddies is checking out the car, I get some fun reactions and conversation starters.

Do you have any fun trinkets you keep in your car or cool ideas? I was thinking maybe a Rubiks Cube, or an old pager from eBay on the visor. Maybe even a pair of Reebok Pumps to keep in the trunk (at least the box, I'd wear the shoes). You get the idea! It doesn't have to be expensive, just something neat.

Hope everybody has a wonderful holiday weekend if you're reading this. Cheers!

I was going to write a story along these lines awhile ago.
    Here is what I had.

Back in 1972 when I first learned to drive, I won this red plastic furry bull at the county fair. I glued him to the metal dash of my '65 Mercury Comet Calente.
Then in 1975 I tried to remove him to put it in my '71 Mercury Comet but his legs broke off.

My girlfriend at the time bought me this brown bull and that was in the '71 and then my '78 Mercury Zephyr where it stayed until about 1996 he sure was beat up after over 20 years of riding with me.

I got the next little red bull at the county fair. This one lasted until 2005. The California heat made his head fall off.

While on vacation in Cleveland, again at the county fair, I found this Beanie Babies bull. He rides in the car still. Faded from the sun, I found at another Ohio county fair, a guy sells them for $1 so now I have 5 of them collected over the years. And so they don't fade so much, I put him on the floor under the seat when not driving anywhere.

Don't know why bulls were used and never really thought about the fact that I always replaced them with another bull.

Interesting story RED 78'. You just need a little bull in your life apparently.

And it's a much better approach than this guy....

Plus, you don't have to clean up after yours....

Interesting observation that I did not even think of! That is great.
I guess Ford should name some cars and change the slogan to "At the sign of the Bull".

    Is that a CB??

I've never seen this before but thought it was cool. Only 1k!

This is a little bit more my speed for $45. Might be a cool prop to keep in the trunk.

I'll take a photo of my existing "toys" the next time I get into my car..

Moved from Cleveland over 43 years ago so my car would not rust.
My friend owns several classics and we attend a 4 day Chevelle show every year.
As well as the big Octane Nights show in Ravenna, Ohio where I worked for several years.
Other area car shows are visited as well.

This is the only Zephyr I saw in the area this year.

Like the CB. Have one, never used it. Has a magnetic rooftop antenna with it.

Not a CB. Classic Fox “Vixen” Fuzzbuster. It responds to microwave signals and then alarms. Good for detecting radar speed traps. No good for laser traps or speed check or plain jane cop cars. Not legal to use in lots of jurisdictions.

Found a use for some loose stickers I had. This will now live in the trunk or back seat.

Couple of 80's ideas for ya...
    - Walkman cassette player
    - Atari or Gameboy
    - Transformers toys
    - an 80's era radar detector

Personally, I think an actual 80's vintage boombox would've been better, rather than an 80's retro boombox. It's kinda the fact that it has bluetooth and usb capabilities that spoil it for me.

Oh it's a cheap piece of gimmicky junk, no doubt, but it's actually really small in size and looks kinda fun at a glance. The graphic equalizer looks neat while it's playing.

Not a huge fan of the mud flaps. They'd look great on my Subaru, but not the Stang IMO. Though, I've never seen the white ones before and they might look good on a different color car.

That's cool....it does fit your "theme".

Good choice... I hate 'em myself. Just stumbled across them, and knowing your penchant for Motorsport items, thought I'd throw them out there. Any of those other suggestions have any appeal?

Coincidentally, I actually helped my son-in-law put a set of Subaru mud flaps on his STI.

When I used to show my 88 (2002-2015) I had my old Escort radar detecter in her. Maybe I'll dig it out once I get my 85 running.
