Default Fresh Pics of 86 Saleen #145

Been working on getting 86-145 ready for the upcoming MCA National Show in Lincoln NE this weekend...

Ended up pulling seats & carpet for cleaning, as well as spending the last 3 days on body detailing - clay, compound a few places, polish, and wax. Also did some undercarriage and under hood cleaning. I think it's about as ready as it can get.

FWIW, products include Mothers Clay (Showtime Detailer), Meguiars Ultimate Compound, Meguiars #7 polish, and Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax. Porter cable DA polisher. This car is 95% original 28 year old single-stage paint.

    1986 Saleen #145
    now 50k miles - still 98% original.

Nice looking Saleen. Is it from Town and Country Ford in Charlotte, NC? Just saw the star on the hatch, didn't know if anyone else used that.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

WOW! That is sharp! I will definitely have to try and make it out to Lincoln this weekend to check it out in person since you have been a big help on my paint refurb thread and this car is definitely an inspiration. I hope my paint will look half as good when finished.......even though its not a show car lol.

Thanks for the compliments, and nice catch on the missing plug!

2nd owner had the car for 23 years and preserved it. At this point my job is caretaker!

I did hit about 10 miles of rain driving to the show, plus more overnight rain while the car was parked. Ended up spending another 8-10 hours cleaning at the show. Worst part was trying to get the undercarraige, tires, and wheel-wells clean again without a jack...
A few pics taken by others at the show...

We DID manage to bring home a Gold Award in the Concours Driven Division. Anxious to see my judging sheet. Last show had only 2 deductions.

    So nice...
I hear ya about the rain too.
We've had a really hot dry summer here, yet I've hit flash rainstorms 4 times in my fox, once right after I'd jacked it up, wheels off cleaned it for a show too.
