I'm gonna join in the group and tell you how AWESOME THOSE LOOK ! I've never even thought of painting the center sections other than the black special service wheels you see. I think they will look super when you put them on a car, and can't wait to see pics. This opens up another option for old worn out 10-holes. Congrats on probably starting a whole new trend !

William, man those look great! Of course, so do your polished ponys! Are you going to keep both and just swap them out when you feel like you want to make a change?

I have never been a huge fan of the "phone dial" wheels, but your restoration has completely changed my opinion. You really did a great job. So much so that I'd like to have you do the same thing to my set. I would actually put them back on my car if they looked like yours.
Congratulations on starting a new trend and again...they really look great!!
Mike
Cheers!

I did a set like this years ago when i first got my coupe but i didn't polish the lips like that. They looked pretty nice and held up really well. That Dupli-Color wheel paint is good stuff.
Looks awesome.

Looks great! My 10 holes have been stored for 25 years and will be going back on my 86 GT in the next year as the restoration starts.
Man those look fantastic. I just bought a set of Draglites for my '89 but plan to keep the 10 holes as well because I plan to put some highway miles on this thing once it is painted. Now I know how to clean them back up and make them look great.
I have like 6 or 8 10 holes in my garage, and my car is going 5 lug. I do however have a thought about what to do with the old ones. Refinishing them like this would be part of the idea. We'll see if I get around to it.

Give us a hint at least, in case you don't follow through with your idea. When I first saw what "the wizard" did I thought wow that's awesome. I've been thinking of doing the same thing in either anthracite or black but know the time involved will keep me from following through.
If you are looking for the stock size 225 60 r15 tires for those wheels check out the Fuzions from the tire rack. I have had mine for over a year and they are a great tire. They grip very well and they have very good tread wear. I've done quiet a few smokey hole shots with out any noticable wear! I think I paid $240 or $260 shipped to my door. Fuzion tires are made by Bridgestone and get very good feedback from customers. I also have them on my turbo subaru forester and my wifes Suzuki grand vitara (truck version of the tire) and love them. Can't beat the price or the performance. I polished my 10 holes which took forever and now your making me want to paint them!!!

Think this treatment in anthrecite(sp?) ala Bullitt wheels, would look good?

I've been bead blasting cast aluminum wheels for a while now, especially the backsides.
It gets the nasty brake crud off very well and makes the clear adhere well.
I like the polished/painted look on yours.
Ron.
Alright..here is a shot of the wheels on the car, I was waiting on the lowering sprigs and new top to be installed, to take out on a photo shoot, but that's gonna take a few more weeks..
They show better on bright sunny days, the metal flakes in the paint really come alive, on a gloomy day like this..not so much.

Looking good. Hope you get a sunny day soon. I'd like them sparkle.
