Exterior trim color?

On my 83 rs turbo. I'm in the process of freshing up the exterior. My question is what color was the trim pieces? The car is black and the moldings appear to be a dark grey. The rear bumper around the tail lights appear to be a darker gray too(faded)? Same goes for the sail panels, mirrors, window trim, and cowl plastic . Was the trim pieces suppose to be black and faded over time? Any help would be great. Thanks
