David LaRoques book on the SVO states that after Feb 29, 1984 when most of the options were made standard to delete them, option 41 removed them as Competition Prep option. You will notice on the sticker there was a $1200 credit to delete these Items. The car you are looking at was built a couple of months after this date. I have found several over the years and this has been correct on the cars I have found.
I have not seen on a build sheet or buck tag that says anything about wheather it is a comp prep or not. Only thing for sure is the Eminger reports from Marti Auto works or the oringnal window sticker. The one I printed above the vin is 17xxx so the one you are looking at is well above that. And yes I know cars are not built in exact order of the vin numbers but this works out. I also have access to the build dates. At the moment I have 11 Comp prep svo's. Hope this helps. later Kendal

oh ok. kool. well im thinking about getting the car. he says a rod went. so not running. lowest i got him was 2000. sooo will see. car is all there. so shouldnt be hard to get running again.
are these motors a pain in the butt or just a simple rebuild and put everything back i shouldnt have a problem.

turbo 2.3's are cheap enough that if you can't rebuild it right now due to financial reasons or whatever, you could put the original motor in a crate and just drop another one in.

    that would get you going.

They are not complicated to rebuild. Just make sure to use forged pistons and the turbo head. You will get too much compression with the wrong head and pistons. You also can use a 83-84 thunderbird turbo coupe engine until you get the original rebuilt. Last know place for the car was Illinois, are you and the car in that area? later Kendal

There is a code on SVO's Buck Tag indicating whether the car got a single wing or a dual wing.

most have the dual wing. I do know of two comp preps ordered with the single wing. Both ended up with the dual wing. Ken Potter has a very low mileage 1986 that was orderd with thte single wing and ended up being built with the dual wing. I am pretty sure Daniel Carpenter's 85.5 had the same problem.

There's also a black bi-wing delete 1986 Comp prep in Washington that has showed up lately.

There is no indication of the single wing on the buck tag that I know of. The only way to identify the car as coming with a single wing from the factory is from the window sticker.

I think it could be but I'm not 100% sure...

I know he had a T-top SVO he was parting that might have been an option delete. I did a spy in the sky of his "junkyard" and could only see what looked like one SVO crammed in the middle.

When I say "junkyard" it's not very big. It's about the size of my upper driveway parking area.

Ken P - Look at your buck tag on the 86 comp prep with 10,000 miles. Does it have an 11 code?

I wish I could see it... When they screwed it to the core support it is right under the driver's side support bracket for the header panel. I will remove the bracket when I have some time and get a pic for history. I don't know when that'll be though...

Also, I just ordered Eminger invoices for five of my SVOs. The CP is one of them and it will be interesting to see what it shows.
