how can i tell an svo is a comp prep with no buck tag

OK. i went to go look at an svo today that was being parted out...
i started to look around...i saw some nice door panels with manual windows ( ill take those thank you haha) and i started looking some more...car has no power locks no power windows. no ac....it has under the dash on driver side and passenger side like a knob to pull on to open the vents....never seen that on a foxbody....just my old chevelle wagon lol
i immediatley went to see the bucktag...its gone....
i believe this in fact IS a comp prep but i dont know how else to tell. will the vin say ??? prob not but anyone with info let me know how i can find out if in fact it is a comp prep, thanks for your help guys

That seems to be a comp prep to me as long as it's in fact a SVO, a buisness contact I had bought what he thought was a comp prep SVO, and it really was a base model, no option GTturbo that had all the SVO specific parts swapped and the whole thing was repainted 5years before he even saw it. He actually wanted a GTturbo anyways, so it worked out for him.

picking up parts later. hes planning on junking it....ima see if he will sell whatever is left of the car......if anyone is interested in picking it up let me know. to much of a project for me right now since i have no space.

If it is an SVO it will have a T in the vin for the engine code. Comp preps had a radio delete code & unique spring codes on the door label. It sounds like a comp prep, what year is it?

its an 84 and it does have the T in the vin. i checked for it

Many 84 SVOs came without options. Late in the model year options were added for no extra charge. Also, the comp prep option was added late in the model year as well. By late, I mean Jan-April 1984. Slapper bar cars were early cars up to Dec 1983. Check for the radio code. Very few comp preps were built/sold in 84 as they were likely special ordered and the dealers had a bunch of early cars still unsold on the lot. I don't know the current count of 84 comp preps, maybe 2-5 cars.

It would have to be built after Feb 29, 1984 to be a 84 comp prep. By the way 84 comp preps had amfm no cassette radio. Code would be (4)

Here is a eminger report on a 84 comp prep. Notice it has a radio.

Based on the VIN I would recommend trying to get the whole car before it goes to the crusher.

im actually thinking about keepin her. but the guy wants 2800 its not even running. so not sure yet. if hes gonna junk it ill c what i offer. i have some money saved up that i was gonna use for the dark clovis brown coupe we talked about....and yes he still has it i think you can pick it up for what you offered , depends if you wanna spend that plus shipping etc.
