Anyone know if the 89LX convertible front seatbelts will direct fit into an 84LX convertible?
Not even close. I opened my 84 up and it mounts to the floor directly but the 89 has a long pole attached raising it up to the top so there's no room.

As far as I know, they should fit. Ford didn't change the convertible belts until the 90 model. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Final answer = NO.
Well I took the car apart enough to see that the 84-86 mounts to the floor directly and the 89 has a long pole from the floor to the top rewind so no way. They must have changed it from 87 on?Originally Posted by Silver83

I switched mine to 90 and up because I used the 90 and up rear interior panels. So I did have to use the bar you mentioned, so you may be correct. I was thinking that 90 was the first year of the seatbelt change.
