what i did with my board was i flipped it over and used duct tape to fix the tears and glued the headliner to the un used side. came out great, i've done that 3 times now

    I reused the cardboard.

I scraped all of the crusty foam off, sprayed on 3M contact adhesive from an aerosol can, and attached new covering material.

Do you need to cut for the sunvisors or are they already cut in there?

Has anybody ever cut their own out of ABS sheet or something similar? I have the old one I could use as a template.

Ahh, I wanted to know if I'd have holes when I don't put them back in.

The ABS precovered headliners fit well and are infinitely more durable. They won't kink and just look great. Worth every penny. It's just not worth farting around with the cardboard.

The board shouldn't matter as you'll be covering it with cloth/vinyl anyway.

yeah seeing as i have the cloth i think im going to buy the abs board from foxresto. they have a uncovered, pre-cut board for a t-top car for only like $130...pretty cheap if you ask me. the local upholstery shop told me $220 if i ordered it through him and he put the cloth on for me.

True, it wont matter if the cloth doesn't have holes. I never use them so I'm removing them. Thank ya

FWIW, while the ABS have holes for the sunvisors, you may need to work them a little bit.

How thick are the ABS boards?

    ?

    Pretty thick is pretty vague.

    1/8"? 3/16"?

I can't imagine it would need to be all *that* thick for a t-top car.

I'm going to be doing mine here soon. I just picked up the headliner material at Joann Fabrics for $4.50 for the entire piece! The 3M glue was $12. I can give it a shot myself and save the money from paying for one from Foxresto or Latemodel.

After several years, these materials have worked out so well, i did the Ranger too.
A laminate rubber roller is better than fingers for applying the fabric firmly, quickly and evenly.
You only get one shot to do it. Cannot be lifted to remove any air pockets.

I was going to try a wallpaper tool that helps apply wallpaper to avoid the air bubbles. A rolling pin would probably work too though...hmmm...

Small paint roller, rolling pin. Tools with rounded soft edges.
A flat sharp edge tool may snag the fabric or poke a hole.
