Default My report: 1984 Mexican Mustang in Dallas

Read my report on the 1983 Mexican Mustang for the background information regarding the seller of these cars.

The '84 is definitely the more appealing of the two cars. I expected to be more enamored with the '83, since it has the Capri front end, but the '84 really looked to have more going for it.

The red paint is a two-year old Maaco job that is not holding up very well. The body has a lot of dings and dents, but the "new" paint covers up some of the issues. The interior is rough, as this one too has seen plenty of use.

The owner started it up for me, and though the smell of oil was present, the engine sounded pretty dang good. He represented that both cars run really well, and are ready to hit the road.

Just seeing and hearing the '84 had me reaching for my wallet. I was seriously tempted to make the guy an offer. If these sit on the lot for another month or two, I might just have to do it.

    Questions, anyone?

That is a cool freaking car. I'd want to leave the mexican registration on it too. The trick would be finding the right 4-spoke wheels for it.

And I guess the mexican cars might not have gotten HO motors? Why the plain valve covers? Or were the motors just swapped?

Damn, I still want that car. *sigh* Maybe I should just sell my 95GT DD and buy this thing and throw it in the garage until I can get to it.

It appears solid in your pics. I wonder where a person could find upholstery for it. Also, does anyone know, was it carbed with an auto from the factory?

    Thanks for posting up pics.

after looking at this, i realized why my neighbor asked me if my capri was a Mustang. he seemed real insistent that my capri is a Mustang. he had one when he lived in Mexico. he's supposed to bring pictures over but that was weeks ago.

nice find. if i ever got my hands one a true blue Mexican stang, i'd produly restore it to its original form.
