Read my report on the 1983 Mexican Mustang for the background information regarding the seller of these cars.
The '84 is definitely the more appealing of the two cars. I expected to be more enamored with the '83, since it has the Capri front end, but the '84 really looked to have more going for it.
The red paint is a two-year old Maaco job that is not holding up very well. The body has a lot of dings and dents, but the "new" paint covers up some of the issues. The interior is rough, as this one too has seen plenty of use.
The owner started it up for me, and though the smell of oil was present, the engine sounded pretty dang good. He represented that both cars run really well, and are ready to hit the road.
Just seeing and hearing the '84 had me reaching for my wallet. I was seriously tempted to make the guy an offer. If these sit on the lot for another month or two, I might just have to do it.
