    Sweet!

Pull it out of the grass and check the underside for rust. Other than that, it looks like a great start!

Just got her home still dirty as ever.. found out today its been sitting for 10 years!

they couldn't find the key so they tore apart the ignition just found out the same key works in both cars though.. to bad.. how much is this to replace (usually)?

Engine fired up just fine about a year ago just gotta pull it out and replace the seals on the transmission!

Does anyone know how bad this really is.. or how much it is to replace the cloth on top or if i would have to replace all of it?

    Found the rust

so ill start cleaning her up and fixing her up soon and lots more pics coming soon!!

so small problem.. it fires up but the gas in the tank is 10 years old.. and all the manual says is "have a professional do it".. i was wondering if there is a way to do this on my own or if i really need to go someplace to have it looked at..

also small update all the electrics work!! except the reverse lights..

I was able to drop my tank, clean it out and rehang it all by myself. I dumped it out, swished it out with denatured alcohol to get rid of any moisture, and filled it with fresh gas. you don't need to unbolt the filler neck from the body, it slides out of the side of the tank. I ended up having to cut the old strap bolts off and replaced them with stainless carriage bolts. there wasn't any rust in my tank so I'm not sure what you should do in case you encounter any.
oh, and its MUCH easier with two people

I wouldn't dispose of your old fuel as I did, so I'm not sure how to do that in city limits
I think theres a Hazardous waste place out on I-22. maybe a google search would bring something up?
    EDIT: http://www.yellowbook.com/yellow-pag...re=Salem%2C+OR

most sites I found say to simply use it up. I dunno, I've never tried fuel stabilizers or anything like that before.

and yeah, the weather currently sucks! might get better next week, but I'm not a meteorologist.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like a fun project.

Vinyl roof: I think you need a new one. Hope you don't find any nasty surprises underneath. I suspect an upholstery shop would do this type of work. I have no idea what it would cost. Suggestion: stop by a local Lincoln or Cadillac dealer and ask. One local dealer here still "customizes" new cars with vinyl and cloth roofs, so it still can be done. With vinyl roofs being out of style, most people would just take it off and then do a repaint. But if you want to go back to stock, that would look cool -- "period correct."

    Keep the updates coming.

One more thing: for your next round of pictures, could you take a picture standing near the left front fender, pointed into the engine compartment, at the power steering pump and related hoses.

How many miles on the car?

so now that i have 2 of these cars and only so much is working on either one.. can the 4 speed manual transmission from an I4 fit the I6? it would be so cool to drive one while i fix the other up but if this doesn't fit then I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer :/

    please let me know!

Good shot of the 79-only trunk lid. Too bad it's rusted out (just like mine was)
