Thread: Smoke residue

    Default Smoke residue

The blue and white interior of my '84 convertible has been discoloured by the previous owner's smoking. Has anyone had luck with a cleaner or product that helps remove the residue?

I haven't had that particular problem, but if I did, I would try some purple power or superclean and dilute it to like 1 part cleaner to 4 parts water.

My first car, a 79 Toyota, the P.O. smoked like a train. We thought the vinyl headliner was dark yellowish grey. No it WAS light grey. Back in the mid 80's all there was, was Formula 409 and the like. We diluted some of the Formula 409 a and used a rag and it took it off. Did all the hard surfaces in the car. Even the black areas looked MUCH better!

For light colored car interiors, I use Mr.Clean magic erasers. Ive used them on interior plastics, and leather seats. They are great for getting the crud out of the grain of the plastic and seats.

Also try Tide with Bleach with warm water and a scrub brush.
