    Default Rebuilt '85 Engine pics

After rebuilding my 192k mile '85 5.0L, it looked so purdy on the engine stand that just had to post some pics.

That 1st picture should be on a t-shirt or blown up poster size. Very awesome!
    Cheers!

Like the first pic. It is always nice when you rebuilt and cleanup a engine. Did that with my 95 5.0 engine.

Yes they are painted. But, that first picture is converted to black and white. I bought two levels of Porter Cable metal polish at Lowes and polished the fins with a cotton wheel on my drill. http://www.lowes.com/pd_329452-70-PC...ductId=3364032

I then painted over the entire valve cover with VHT cast iron engine enamel http://www.lowes.com/pd_329452-70-PC...ductId=3364032 and then rubbed the paint off the fins with rag and paint thinner. Since my engine compartment is black and there is no real color to the engine (like on a 60's Ford), I thought the grey would look pretty good.

Yes, I just replaced all three A/C lines. I bought two of the lines back in 2005 and they sat on a shelf in my garage. I can't remember where I bought them. The third one I got at O'Reillys. I still need to evacuate the system and charge it up. I hope my compressor seals are still in good order.

Gotta love American iron.... I still laugh at myself for getting so excited looking at engine pics... but that is one sexy powerplant.

Thanks. It was until the overhaul. Here's the specs now:
Stock bottom end with standard rings and bearings.
Ported GT-40P heads with Alex's springs and 3 angle valve job.
    Weiand 8124 Street Warrior intake
    Comp Cams XE264HR-14
    FRPP GT-40P headers
    Summit 600cfm carb

I'm just getting her broken in now. I've only put about 300 miles on the motor, but it's a huge improvement over the stock 5.0L.

That thing should run awsome. I did a 90 Notch a few years back with that same cam, Performer 5.0 heads, & ported Explorer intake. It was a very fun driver!
