    Default 86 dew wipe install

I just purchased FMR replacement dew wipes. I wanted to know if anyone could tell me how to remove my mirrors for the install. I don't know if it matters but my car is an 86GT vert. Any help would be appreciated.

    To remove the mirrors:

    - Open Door and leave open
    - Locate triangle cover on the inside, this has the remote stick coming out of it, and is over mirror studs which you need to gain access to.
    - Remove phillips screw
    - Locate "small" set screw that holds the remote control for the mirror in place. (Small allen style set screw)
    - Back off set screw, do not need to remove it completely.
    - Slide triangle trim off mirror remote. If your remote stick has the rubber knob on the end, some do some don't, you will need to pull that off to slide the triangle plate off.
    - Locate the 2 nuts behind that plate, remove them and be sure not to drop them inside the door. I don't remember the nut size at this time.
    - Once nuts removed, pull mirror off the door from the outside.

I think it's a 10mm nut. One you get the mirrors off, start at one end and gently pull the dew wipe upwards with your hands working your way down to the opposite end.

I've heard of others doing this. How did you transfer the seal to the old trim? Does it just pull off the old trim and stick to the new trim?

Thanks for the help! I plan on keeping my charcoal trim piece and just using the rubber part as well. My new wipes will be here by weeks end so I don't have them now but what needs to be done to just swap out the wipes. Thanks again.

I don't know what brand of dew wipes FMR is selling, however I've been very happy with mine on my capri. It's great not having any window rattles and great sealing. If you can swing it do the rest of the window weatherstripping. It'll make a world of difference.

I think I'm going to do this too. The repo metal doesn't seem as nice. The rubber goes on and off the repo metal super easy - is it as easy to get the new rubber on the stock trim??

I didn't transfer the metal, the newer version I got from FMR seemed just as rigid. Working fine for me.
