Default 82 Granada engine swap. Help???

Hey there. I have a clean 82 Granada with 3.3 line six and 3-speed auto. It's got only 100,000km original km's but its got barley any power. I'm thinking of swapping a built 302. I also want to keep the installation simple and keep unnecessary costs down. Am I on the right track or should I be looking elsewhere? Also, what should I look out for?

Notes:Its my summer weekend car, so this is what I will need with the swap:
    Power steering
    A/C
    Heater
Reliability (may do up to 1000km in one weekend)
    0-60 7 seconds MAX
    Cheap parts
auto trans (Before you shoot me down, I have a manual DD)
    N/A (K.I.S.S)
    Carburetor(s)

since you have the inline 6 in your car, your k member are going to be different. you're going to have to mod it to fit. as for engines, all you have to get is a 5.0 from any 88-92 ford mustang or lincoln mk VII. you can get the '93-95s, but the pistons are weaker. then you're going to have to grab a distributor from a '85 5.0 with vacuum advance (any 79-84 5.0 dizzy will work, but you're going to have to switch out the dizzy gear to a steel dizzy gear). you're also gonna need the timing cover off from a 85 and under 5.0 unless you're planning to use an electric fuel pump. and lastly you'll have to find the oil pan from any 79-93 5.0-powered fox. an edelbrock 600cfm carb and a stock 84-85 intake will do just fine for that engine

I actually like that idea. It doesn't look too involved, and the "Wow" factor would make it worth it IMO.

The existing K-member for the I-6 may be modified so a 302 V8 could fit - just need engine mounts from an early '80's F-150 302 truck. Upgrade to the brakes is not a bad idea the Sn95 5-lug would be a better upgrade unless someone is giving away an '87-'93 front disc and spindles set for next to nothing.

Using a truck V8 engine mounts was pioneered by Stymeesmont, he's a member here and you can PM him for the details.

I knew I recognized this car, I saw it on Kijiji a while ago.

If you want, I have a 20:1 ratio TRW rack (for power steering) that I'd sell you for super cheap with leak-free lines. I also have a front sway bar if you're interested.
