Default CFI setup with carb hat, anyone try this?

Hey guys, I've been going through some ideas with my newly aquired GT350, and one idea that I am bouncing around is for the air intake to the CFI. Is anyone using a carb hat on thier CFI unit? If so, what model? My future plans are for a twin turbo setup utilizing this carb hat, BUT this mod would benefit a rather stock engine as well. I will be trying this prior to my turbo installation, rather than the dual snorkle air cleaner. I think the carb hat could be plumbed to the fenderwell and grab some of the cooler air like the newer Cold Air Intake kits out there.
    Thanks
    Joey

Your dual snorkel should grab cold air from both fenderwells, giving it more airflow than a single inlet carb hat would, don't you think?

The factory dual snorkel air cleaner will never be any kind of restriction at any power level
you're going to achieve with CFI. And like SVT Rob points out, it's pulling in cool air from
    both fenderwells.

The factory got these air cleaners right. An aftermarket hat would be a downgrade.

just put a k&n in the dual snorkel air cleaner and be done dump the money into something else like under drive pullies and a basic tune up

my 83 had a crank pulley on it when i bought it but a basic tune up is the first thing i did and do for all my cars...(stock K&N, NGK plugs, ford racing 9mm wires, napa cap and rotor, MSD blaster 2F coil(correct for duraspark at least), royal purple 5w20 racing oil w/ motor craft oil, and a serp belt.)

just an idea i priced it all out as i was on a budget and the only car i was driving at the time so it had to be reliable as possible anyway lol

AH, my car is missing the rubber air inlets that attach to the fenderwell. I have an open dual snorkle air breather. I saw a picture in another post about how its plumbed to both fenderwells. I agree with you guys, the factory design (if all parts were there) is indeed a sufficient setup!
    Thanks
