Default full tonneau for back seat or convertible boot ???

My 84 convert is going in for a new top soon, and I am going to have the upholsterer make a new boot for the top with the same stayfast material. Then I remembered the full tonneau that the 94-99 models had as an option. Basically it replaced the traditional top boot, and it covered the area from the back of the front seats to the front of the deck lid. And I thought to myself: "self, why not make a full tonneau like the 94-99, but for the 84 ??"

The car is a 84 anny, white with a red stayfast cloth top.

    Your opionions please.

Thanks for the comments, and the photos are exactly what I was talking about. Now I will just have to wait for the the project to take its course.

i have tried to find one for years. If you were to go with the Saleen piece you would have to change your rear 1/4 trim pices for they are different. what you don't see in the pics also all the bars needed to put the thing in. I also love the windsreen as well. i think that can be made on your own though.
good luck keep us up to date with the progress

I will be having the guy make my own tonneau for the 84, and I would not attempt to try to find a saleen tonneau. I think that I can do it if I add some snaps along on my current 1/4 panels, and then build a sleeve along the front edge of the tonneau for an insertable rod to keep the front edge from flapping or sagging. I know that the windscreen has it purpose, but not on this car.

Do you have any drawings of photos of the framework for the saleen cover ??

    Thanks, Derald.

I just posted a WTB thread in the classifieds for a worn-out boot, I have a very good boot that I really don't want to destroy, let me know if anyone can help.

    Thanks again, Derald.

UPDATE ON THE TONNEAU BOOT: Just got the car back today from the upholsterer, with a new top, window well, and full tonneau boot. I will be posting a complete update of the car as soon as the weather cooperates and I can get some good photos, but here is a teaser:

    WOW!

I'm going to have to get the upholster info from you. I have a couple of other projects that could use his/her expertise.

Thanks for the comments, guys. And more photos of the car will be coming, just have to wait for the weather to cooperate. Right now it is about 35 degrees and 45 mph wind. Supposed to be in the 70's next week. This has been a 12 year project, and I am VERY close to getting it done.

FWIW, the upholsterer did not have a problem with the tonneau. In some respects, he said it was easier than a traditional boot.

That looks awesome. Post some full car shots for us. Hopefully, your upholsterer saved his patterns so the rest of us vert owners can participate this awesomeness.
