I will move the few I have to my photobucket and then to here later or early tomorrow. This car was in an FYI listed as a V8 capri until I did some Q@A with the owner.I looked at it and am not sure if it is still available for those that want to know but it may be.
It ran and drove and with some interior work and a removal of the black paintjob it would be a nice driver.Word is that somewhere in the mid to high teens would buy it.

    Anything more on this car?

    I own 497, also a 21 (Atlanta) DSO.

497,498, do we have 499? Next up on the line!!

Thats actually pretty weird, consecutive #'s from the line, discovered 26 years later.

Other than the interior color and obviously the CUN and (what is believed to be) the paint shop rotation number, the tags are identical.

Very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen two folks with two consecutive cars off a line, separated by some distance. That does have to be rare. I would be interested in more pics.

By the way, excellent photo of the buck tag. I don't think I've ever seen such a clear photo of the buck tag in place. What did you use to snap that pic?

Well, the distance is due to my getting the car shipped from Georgia out here to AZ. They were both delivered to the Atlanta area when new, so the distance is my fault. When I saw the build date on that one, I grabbed my tag to see how far off the VINs were...or were not, in this case.

The last six of the VIN is the order in which VINs were assigned. They are not necessarily built in that order. To get a better idea how closely these two were built you would have to compare (what is believed to be) the paint shop rotation number on the upper right corner of the Buck Tag, and the line rotation number on the upper left corner of the Build Sheet.

The DSO is not necessarily the area the cars were delivered. That is just the "district sales office" that the order for the car went through, between the ordering dealer and the assembly plant. The next closest geographically-located DSOs to the Atlanta office were Jacksonville, Memphis, and Washington.

My pics were taken with a 3.2 megapixel blackberry. The camera seems to be the best part of this thing.
I do have a few pics that I can email easier than transferring if anyone wants them give me an address and I'll send them right to you.

Considering Ford probably wanted to paint all the Charcoal Turbos on the same paint rotation....and that there were very few Charcoal Turbo cars, I bet this coincidence isn't all that far out of the realm of possibility.

They may have even been ordered by the same dealer.

It is not uncommon for me to find a batch of consecutive CUNs for the same model.

    Default hello

Well came across this site while I was looking for some parts for my newest project. 1984 Mercury Capri.RS Turbo. I am in need of a new fender for mine unfortunately. The idiotic owner before me didn't know how to drive his truck and crinkled it pretty good. I want to know as much info on this car as possible. Got vin and buck tag and will be doing research to get this back to OEM. Any help I could get along the way would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your 84 and welcome to FEP. Be sure to start a build thread to show off your work.
