Default Picked up a 1983 Mustang GT Wide Body ..

Picked up a 1983 Mustang GT that has a metal wide body kit installed. Car is from Florida/Georgia area. It's rough around the edges but has a very strong drivetrain and suspension. Plans are to completely rebuild the car and let me son Autocross it. I will post up progress...

Little bit of work and that can be an awesome car.

looks like it was driven hard and put away wet. I see some serious potential for a unique ride. Good save!

Don't mean to be unkind, but I'm not diggin' anything about the way that "body kit" looks. I'm afraid to ask how many cans of putty were used to install it.

Actually I gave $1500.. It was on C/L for $5000 last summer. At that time I did not go look at it, or know it was a wide body. I emailed someone and never got a response. In October the car showed up again on C/L for $3000.. i emailed them and they emailed me back with a long list of mods. But no pics, no address or phone #...

I got an emailed in late November from the owner and a small pic was attached. I could vaguely tell it was a widebody, so I had to go look at it. I got an address and went the next morning to pick it up.

When I got there it was raining hard, so I could not really get a good look under the car. But I got to hear it run and drove i up on to the trailer. So I figured $1500 well spent.

    Yea it makes my second...

There was a sticker in the back hatch glass that said "Gulf Coast Autocrossers --- Champion 1999"

So I think I might have found some previous pics of the car.

Must be the same car. look at the GT emblems on the front fenders that have now been sprayed over, as well as the stickers in the drivers quarter windows. you should email the previous owner (email address on the drivers quarter) and see if you can get more history and pics of it.

It looks like the front air dam is missing now? It sure looks sharp in those old pics, I hope you can get it looking nice again, there is certainly a lot of potential. Good luck.

It's kinda baffling to me that it can get like that in 10 years.

In your photo album , looking into the rear hatch in the upper right you can see yellow paint.
