Default Front panel differences 79 to 85

I am looking to replace the right front inner pannel near the battery tray on my 79 Cobra. This would be the sheet metal between the strut tower, frame
rail and the radiator support. the Ford dealer can get the part for a 1985, but
ford no longer makes the 1979 part.
Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the 85 and 79 parts?

'79 does not have the air intake hole on the driver side. Passenger side only.

'79 had the air intake hole on both sides ... driver side was used with 2.8 V6. Ford removed it sometime later ('80 at least) after the switch to the 3.3 L6.

Not sure but if i remember well, my buddy's 82 GT doesn't have the driver side hole ... but maybe that's because it had the 4.2 (automatic) instead of the 5.0.

I just checked with my local dealership, and they say the part is no longer availible for any year. I too need aprons for an 85.

If you can find me a NOS 85 P/S fender apron at a price that's right for you, I'll be happy to swap with you. I have LH & RH NOS 79 fender aprons, and I would rather go with 85's instead.

These have some shelf wear (scratches mainly) but are otherwise in excellent condition.
