I'm pretty sure you will need to use your glass in the new door.
The T-Top doors are not just cut-down coupe or hatchback doors.
They're much closer to 'vert doors.

Don't throw away your T-Top doors until you strip out the windows and, possibly, the roll-up portions! The T-Top door glass IS DIFFERENT and there are some other small parts that are specific to T-Top doors you'll need to take off the old doors.
If you don't use the lower parts and separate the glass without damaging anything, I'll gladly buy both the roll-up portions, L & R, from you for a T-Topping project of my own.

Any pics of the rust?
so i cant use a hard top door? at late model restoration they sell door skins for 39 dollars will this fix the bottom of the doors is it cheap to install ill get pictures tommorrow
I think people have use solid roof doors (no such thing as a 79-86 hardtop ).
I think what JACook means that maybe there is some reinforcement in them not in the hatch/notch doors?
The door should be mostly the same. You need to swap over all your innards. Do a search for people who have done this.

Glass is thicker on CV doors, maybe T-top doors too?
Window frame is removed at top of side mirror
Convertible-specific side mirror mouldings (for 83-88-ish cars, NOT for Escort mirrors that mount to the door skin)
Those are the main differences I can think of right now.
I used hard top doors with the old t-top glass, and it worked just fine. It is all in my build thread in the online carshow," project Rusty our 84 t-top coupe build.

My 83 Ttop Capri has 88 mustang solid top doors on it. Cut the frame, welded the reinforcement panel from my old doors to the replacements plus glass and ALL hardware must be swapped from your original doors. You can't tell the difference with the door panels on them. See my album.
Good luck!

Stick with donor doors between 83 and 87. Too old and the door is quite different. Too new and you'll need to fill holes on the outer door skin.
Vert and t-top doors are the best because the reinforements and mounting holes are all in the right places. If you're looking for doors, use the following site to locate decent donors:
