    Hi Tom,

You are amazing, but your car is even more amazing than you! I really need to get up there soon, if you didn't mind the company. My baby is now 5 months old now and a lot of my time has been devoted to her (as it should be!). Once spring gets here, I would love to see all your progress in person. Maybe you could give me some creative pointers. I am planning on a paint job for my 79 and we'll see how that goes. Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag- you know how much we all love that Pace Car and what you have planned for her.

Thanks Tony. And of course I don't mind the company at all, its actually motivation.

Are you going to do the paint on your car, or have a shop do it. Your car is already really nice, new paint will be exciting.

I could also go on and on about how this is going to be one awesome ride.

I cannot wait to see the finished wheels on it. Being honest, I'm not 100% sure about the size of the lips (as was one said to Mick Jagger) ---- but I'm totally in luv with the matte black and the brushed finish.

What's the car in the bottom pic? It looks mega-sweet.

The wheels will be Budnik GTX's. No chrome or polished here. The centers will be matte black and the lips will be brushed finish. I will be running a 20x12 in the rear with a huge lip, probably 5" or so and probably and 18x8 or 18x7 in the front (althought final measurement will decide for sure).

I don't have great pics of the wheels in the finish I want as most people prefer the polished, but below are the wheels that I am getting with the same finish, the only difference being I won't have the exposed bolts around the outside.

The rendering also shows the wheels I will be using except they are shown in four lug there.

Looks like I project that I want to watch closely. Do you have anything planned for the headlights? I like how the car will still retain it's identity and have some modern styling thrown in there. Killer, simply killer! Oh, I'm not a fan of the paddle shifter though, just my .02, an American "pony car" needs a shifter between the seats.

Unbelieveably cool!! I'm not a big fan of automatics, but if you do go that route, I think the paddle shifters are totally cool and look great!

    That's just beautiful.

EDIT: And that customrodder website has some sweet stuff in its gallery section.

Just my opinion ---> Check it out.

Okay guys. Well I stated I would be working on a new mod today, unfortunately I didn't get it fully done. I need have a few little imperfections sanded then I can get the final black paint on. I wanted to do a smooth cowl, so with a little help from a friend of mine (actually it was his project and he did all the work, lol), who likes this type of body shop work this is what we came up with. Like a said, a final sand then we can spray the black and bolt it on. Let me know what you think.

    STOCK:

NEW PEICE ROUGHED IN (no primer):

This is a shot of them side by side. At this point the new piece is in primer.

Probably next weekend I will get the finished pics.

Tom, I think you might be crazy. You have the nicest fox on here already. If you want I will let you borrow mine to experiment with all your ideas, that way you can still keep driving yours. Honestly, too bad you didnt have another one to make the baddest Mustang on the planet and you could leave that one the way it is. Good luck. Cant wait to see how its coming.

Also this weekend I got the old transmission (SROD) out of the car along with clutch and flyer wheel. Got the new flywheel in just waiting for the clutch (should be here Tues.) then I can put that in and put the new T-5 (temporary trans) in the car next weekend.

Its gonna be so nice not having that SROD in there.

I'm undecided on the new cowl piece, I have to see it painted to make a proper opinion.

I kinda like the way the stock piece looks since it breaks everything up and gives some detail, but like I said I'll wait 'till it's done and tell ya how it looks.

Isn't there a function to the cowl? There is a vent in it, isn't it for the heater?

Yeah, I believe so but of course this thing won't be air tight, plus I don't use the heat much, so I don't think I should have any problems.

What about the defroster? Doesn't it need the air from the vent too? Last thing you need is a foggy windshield and no defrost

Very cool- Theres so many spots air can come through in the cowl he will have no problems. I believe a company made solid cowl covers for the newer cars. Looks great as usual- keep posting, I love it!
