    Wink My new project

Well I started tearing into this '79 tonight. The body is in great shape but most rubber is harder than a guy on prom night. I need to update some photos these are from the guy I bought it in Texas from.

Right now the plan is basically a restomod depending on the parts I can find or afford. My son is 10 and he is showing some good interest in playing with cars or I'm not sure which is good.

I'm really happy with the foundation so far. It came from Dalls TX and I got it for $250 + $200 for gas plus it's an original V8 car to boot.

I started sanding the body down and this will be a job. I have to take it down to bare metal and we are finding a ton of dings and a lot of putty. Nothing broken through just more work than I wanted. The roof is the worst being so thin and flimsy.

We have almost identical projects. That's pretty cool. I wish I would have found a factory V8 car. Keep up with the post.

Yep I'm still drooling over your door panels I asked about you restoring. My car is originally a blue interior car and I like your upper panel inserts.

Nice project!! Are those Steeda subframe connectors? It looks like the floor pan had a crack at the seat mount and was welded. My '79 cracked there, which is common. I had it welded and had some sheet metal strips welded on the inside to reinforce the thin seat mount area. It's still good after 20 years.

Yes sir they are! When I get closer to getting chassis worked on I'll check everything out after I find out what is weak on this year car. Any other area's to keep an eye out for?

That's the only problem area that I've had. I think I'm going to get those sub connectors for my '86.

She's still alive...almost. We are done with the bodywork and I'm just finishing up the blocking on the bumper covers hood and deck lid. It's been a slow project since I'm slow and a landscape construction contractor. I think we will be painting the car in a week or two. Lot's of pics will be coming if I can get a new computer that has some download space.

Seems to be a lot of bad cowl areas showing up lately. Have you had the fenders off to see?

Yep, I'm good in the rust department. It just had a ton of dents like it was in a bizzaro hail storm.

    Default some pics

Bear with me as I have a lot of pics to sort out. You saw some of the pics I have above from when I inquired about the car. I'll try to start from the beginning after my son and I picked it up from Dallas. I wish I had pics of it after being dragged through s snowstorm and salt for the first time in it's life probably. nice roof huh!

Some pic of the bodywork. We had to fix 47 dings/dents than some major surgery on the roof. We massaged it as much as possible but it was pretty beat up.

Nice keep the pics coming! Yea we don't see any salt down here, but they do have a thing for laying sand on the road in these parts.

Looking good so far! What color did you decide on?

I'm going with titanium frost and a black interior. I'm also thinking about switching to EFI if I can find a cheap donor car.

Finally got some paint on the car. Now we need to cut and buff, fix some tiny blems and the small holes in the inner rocker area.
