    Default 97 Expedition trans question

Ok, so last week i bought my wife a 97 Expedition. super clean, super cheap, but has a trans issue. My buddy has a snap on scanner, so we went for a drive today. Only fault stored is for the trans temp sensor input. We watched the readings of the sensor, and it flares from 2 volts to 5 volts, and when it hits 5 volts, the overdrive light flashes.
My question is, does anyone know where the trans temp sensor is located? I did a few serches and get nowhere. I ordered the sensor today, so i guess i will soon see, just curious what kind of a job im looking at.

Dad has a 98 Expedition so I asked him if he knew, and he said it might be in the valve body, but he's never had the pan off so he's not 100% sure.

    Better than nothing I guess.

Not sure whether you've got the 4R70W or the 4R100, but I know on the '97 4R70W, the
transmission temp sensor is attached to the valve body. On the '98 and newer 4R70W,
it's part of a one-piece connector assembly that connects all the internal solenoids.

Regardless, you can access the sensor by dropping the pan.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I called Ford today, to price out a factory sensor, and was told its only available purchased with the valve body, not by itself. So for kicks, I unplugged the bulkhead connector for the valve body, and it was full of green funk. I blasted it with electric contact cleaner, and let it sit, blew it out with compressed air, added some dielectric grease, and its MINT. No more harsh shifting, converter doesnt lock up and stall at lights, and the OD light no longer flashes. I did however, break the tab that locks the connector into place removing it, so i ordered a new harness connector and pigtail from Ford, 38 bucks. I figured it would be best anyways, new seals on the harness to keep the moisture out.
    Thanks for the response.

I picked this thing up for 800 bucks. Eddie Bauer, new tires, ball joints, alternator, starter, ect. clean car, needed some tlc, and some maintenece. After changing all the fluids and a tune up, and a few comsetics, I should be into it for about 1200.
