    Default 1983 Capri RS

Alright, while I was in the storage building today, I snapped some pictures of the '83. Got the door tag and buck tag. Don't know anything about the build sheet, but it's most likely still in the car.

I've got a few other pictures of things I haven't seen on other cars, and one I had question about.

    Door Tag:

    Buck Tag:

Are these the factory Recaro seats?

Steering wheel ... is this a factory piece?

Capri RS badge on the dash:

Right, I wanted to know if they were the Recaro's or just regular seats

Ah, ok. Wasn't sure on the badge, I haven't seen many interior pics of other cars with them. I know my 84RS doesn't have that badge. The steering wheel, I don't know, I can't decide what the logo is on it. *shrug*

After looking at Mikes Capri literature, it looks like those are the Sport seats from 83, according to the HA on the Door Tag.

It also looks like the correct steering wheel:

The seats are the sport seats and the wheel is a stock wheel

Yeah, Recaros were discontinued at the end of the '82 model year.

In the '83 and the first half of the '84 Capri model years there were optional "Sport" seats ("Sport Performance" in the Mustang), code "H". The '83 model year Sport seats had netting, the '84 model year seats did not.

The second half of the '84 Capri model year had optional "Functional Sport" seats ("Articulated Sport" in the Mustang), code "P".

Hmm ... it had the 4spd in it? And here I thought it was a factory 5spd.

And thank you, Fox. I did want it decoded This one is my project build, that has been sitting for the past 2.5 years while I tried to decide what I wanted to do with it, and exactly how much money I'm willing to spend to accomplish that.

And could you tell me what the "visibility/light group" is?

The car is just a bit too early of a build to have a five-speed (T-5). The T-5 wasn't available until the following month. If the car had been equipped with a T-5 originally the "TR" code on the VCL would have been "2" and the Buck Tag would have had "MBW" (manual Borg Warner) instead of "MOD" (manual overdrive).

Many people think that when the T-5 became available the SROD was discontinued but it was actually optional (with an invoice credit) the remainder of the model year.

The Light Group (Regular Production Option # 943) includes:

    ashtray light
    dual-beam dome lamp
    engine compartment light
    glovebox light
    headlamps-on warning buzzer
    third-door courtesy light switch
