Default Since I'm not getting answers in the non-Mustang

    I'll post it here:

The Car is the "wonderful" CFI. Yay. Hate this thing.

Ok, I fixed the issue with the idle hunting around. Bad MAP.

But it still has the issue with the High Idle which also makes the car VERY hard to stop while in Drive.

I Went under the hood when it was doing it and I think the throttle kicker is either sticking (which doesn't make sense to me) or the stupid "choke" is off it's rocker. Why? When I went under the hood and lifted the air cleaner I saw that the throttle leaver was up and so I pushed it down and the leaver dropped along with the idle.

I think it's sticking. And when I have it in Drive it's a b!tch to stop. But I put it in Neutral and it stops easy.

I'm thinking the 3 port vacuum switch on the intake is the issue since I can physically move the plastic part all around. I can't find a vacuum leak anywhere else. And, I'm guessing THAT is my issue. And the switch that is in there has no markings on it at all... which tells me aftermarket cr@p. I'm looking to buy a FORD one and toss it on. PN: D7AZ12A091A. Good thing it the switch is not expensive to replace.

    This sound correct?

Yes, I've looked at all my vacuum lines. 3 times. Looked at the POS Ford Throttle body... took it off... looked fairly good. Can't see how those would cause issues... if they look good.

    Thanks!

This sounds like what my old 84 Capri 3.8 did. Never did figure it out to the day we traded 'er in on a truck for my Dad... I really wasn't a "car nut" yet at that time.... Kinda a bummer, too. I got into cars shortly thereafter and could have gotten a totalled 89 GT or so for a song... I did get the hatch for my 92 LX at least.

I thought those throttle kickers were for when the A/C compressor kicked in? I suppose its a long shot, but could there be a short or something in the wiring to the kicker? First order of business, replace that 3 port switch. That sounds like the most likely culprit to me. Often the best way to figure out what is wrong with a car is to look for anything that looks recently "repaired". Maybe some idiot replaced the switch and cracked it while installing it. Sounds about par for the course.

    Thanks guys.

I'm thinking it ended up being a few little things all together.

Car is still running rough. But it's getting there.

A tune up is in store for it this week end.
