    Default 1979 pace car build

history- 79 pace car 302, manual, a/c, rear wiper, def, ect.
I bought this car 1 year ago today, saved from a salvage yard for $500 with no engine or trans. the car is straight pretty much rust free and needs tons of love.

ill be adding photos and more info as the build goes along now that i am in my new house i can realy dig into the project.

    Looks fun, great project.

I spy SVO sail panels... are you putting them on this car? I put them on mine and love them. Trying to decide whether or not to run them was difficult, once I put them on the car, there is no way I would go back.

Nice project! interesting re-do on the recaros. its actually kinda cool how every early mustang floor cracks in the same place, in the same shape. I cant wait to find a car like that in a junkyard for five hundy.

i had a 83 capri that i thought had bad seats in fall of 1987. when i got to the rear bolts, I notice the floor moving as I unbolt them.
so up came the carpet and found both floor pans ripped from rear bolt to rear bolt bad.
I went to the local dealer ship with photos in hand to see what they could do because the car was less than 5 yrs old. the dealership said it was because of my bad driving and there was nothing they would do. my reply was could luck on selling me any more cars and I never been back to that dealership plus ford/mercury just pulled there product from them last month and I think it couldn't have happen to a better place!

Moving as this looks more like a restomod than a pure stock restoration.

The paint on the inside of the door panels is usually the best paint you will find on the car. I hope to own another one some day.

ya it did. but i didnt get any pics that i can find. man i wish i had some photos with all the numbers in yellow that the wrecking yard painted on.(i scrubbed them off)
the front clip is in great shape so far it looks like it has been in a few fender benders! the drivers side door isnt original. so no door tag. and the right front inner fender had been straighted out badly ill be replacing from the strut tower forward. has the usual cancer from the battary anyways. oh and the rh fender was replaced so far thats all.

twister special ill get you that vin# question how many have you located?? my friend has one that ill try to get the vin for you also.
