Default Anyone have info on a 71 Lincoln Mk III 460 365HP

My dad and I are painting this house and out back this guy has 2 Lincoln Continentals. He has a red one with no motor and yellow one thats complete and is said to run fine when he parked it. He wants $300 for the yellow one so we're gonna pick it up but we want to see how the motors are. My dad knows they're pretty good but we wanna know the specs (too much crap around the car right now to look at the motor. Any help will be awesome.

    Thanks

Yeah I saw that earlier didn't help much . Maybe I should have listened to my old teachers and not go to wikipedia . All I could find was some had C9V heads and I think the later ones had D0V heads. Still can't find anything about the block though.

Blocks changed in certain years so some are better than others and heads changed and are also better than others.

The C8, C9, and D0 heads are the best passenger car 460 heads right behind the PI and SCJ heads.

If it's a 71 it'll have the D0VE heads. $300 is a screaming deal for the car and the 460

not 100% but I think those 460's were around 335-345 hp

I believe the 68-71 460's were actually rated at 365 hp.

    1971 460 10.2 compression 365hp@4600 500lbs@2800.
block is 10.310 deck height with 2 bolt mains.
heads where DOVE 75.8 cc with 2.084 intake 1.65 exhaust. non-adjustable rail rockers.
rod where the C8VE-E strait (broached)machining rod bolt.
    push rods length is 8.67

other words, it the best 460 for made back in the early years. if you going to rebuild it, with more power. switch out the rods for the 1979 or later truck 460 rods.

Be mindful that some of the 460's have a VANE driven (end of crank) or a BELT driven P/S pump. also the hydraulic wipers on those cars were badass. If you need lincoln answers for this vintage PM me. I have owned a slew of the sedans and 1 mark 3 coupe
