Just bought my second 83 Turbo RS Capri, questions

Yes, first post from a new member.

16 years ago I owned one of these, last week I bought another.

Ive been looking for info on these cars, mainly original pictures. My car has been repainted and has no badges/stickers, etc. I would like to add these back on to make it look original.

Can anybody help me out?

I will try and add some on Sunday. I can tell you, the interior is black and is MINT.( well except the normal Mustang/Capri drivers seat lean. The dash doesnt even have a crack or mark on it.

The last owner rebuilt or replaced almost every engine/transmission/turbo part on the car. All I needed to replace was the swaybar bushings and links, do an alignment and adjust the timing. ( base timing was out 11 degrees!! ) The coolant overflow container leaks, i'll fix that later.


The negitives, it has a cheap paint job over a body he never repaired. Why I have no idea. Its missing the TRX factory wheels and he installed side skirts from a Mustang.

No matter, its all easy to fix.

In addition to the options you listed, the car was ordered lower -tu-tone paint and an AM/FM stereo w/ cassette. And yes, the sunroof is factory.

By the way, Ford stopped using Recaro seats after the '82 model year. The '83 model year had "Sport" seats that looks similar to the old Recaro seats. The "H" in the INT. TRIM code on the VC Label is for Sport seats.

I will attempt to get the Buck tag info tomorrow, assuming its there.

Interesting info on the seats, I had thought 83 was the last year of the Recaros. The stereo has been replaced, but the Premium Stereo emblem is on the dash.

I am right to assume, only 381 were ever made.

We do not know for certain right now, but 381 is the number that has been mentioned for '83. I'm working on getting all of the VINs. I have about 150 of them right now.

See, thats the strange thing. I went to the site the other user posted and it says 1984 is the small ones. Though it lists the large ones as 79-84.??

As for the wing, I have no idea, it came with the car.
