take the belt off, check all the pulleys. put a new belt back on.

very likely the AC compressor is bad.

Also check the tensioner pully. The load from the a/c could have caused it in the begining.

I could also be the muffler bearing....

    LOL jk

I would for now say it's either the clutch/hub assembly on the compressor gone bad, or the tensioner.

    What???

I'm pretty sure that they NEVER check that on my car when I go in for oil changes and stuff ---- and I'll bet they're charging me for it!

They're gonna hear from me on this one!

    You just wait and see!

    And see, that's another thing.

I've gone to every auto parts store around and nobody sells "elbow grease."

Everybody tells me I need it ---- but nobody sells it ---- and they all laugh at me when I ask for it at the counter.

Sadly enough, y'all think I'm kidding ---- but there was a day that I did this. It HAS been a while though.

Seriously, I kinda wanted to be the guy working behind the parts counter so I can hear all the funny stuff like that. Imagine some weirdo coming in and asking for elbow grease, man what an.... I mean funny story.

But really I did apply at the local autozone. They gave me a line of crap about, oh we're looking for non-college kids to work the daytime, you don't know how to use a cash register, blah blah. We went there all the time, they knew that dad and I knew something about cars. They hired a bunch of kids that look like high school drop outs. I bet those dummies might actually look in the religious holy knows all computer for elbow grease if ya ask them.

Back on topic, the belt is the most common cause of a squeak. Then, on that 4.6, there is a tensioner pulley and an idler pulley. I've had to replace both before to fix a squeak. Once you get the belt off, check those two pulleys for smooth rotation.

I know exactly what the problem is. You need to reconfigure the osculator posculator tounge and groove. You must use a special muddler to conform the nozzle. I know what I am talking about. Dont forget the graphite lube on the end of the oval nubbler, seriously. I always use sythetic, you get better results.
