Hi,

First, thanks for sharing all your knowledge.

Looking at your posts since I joined I suspect that you are building (or have) a database of VIN #'s on the rarer cars. Am I correct? If so, what are the plans for the database?

I have an 84 RS Turbo (you already have the VIN) and I'm wondering how many are still around. Do you have a count of 'dead' RS Turbos?

Yes, the Turbo RS is one of many limited production Capris and Mustangs I'm trying to keep track of. Other sites/groups keep track of other limited production models, i.e. Cobra, Pace Car, Dominator, Predator, G.T.350, SVO, etc. but nobody (that I know of) is doing that for the Turbo RS. I'm trying to at least get a list of as many VINs I can find, but other tags and stickers, and as much information (ext./int. colors, options, wheels, etc.) as possible would be even better.

If you see a thread that has anything to deal with the Turbo RS, please tag it with "turbo rs".

Right now what I have is not organized in one place. I'm working on that when I get the time.

The VIN is the least amount of info I would like to get. Ideally, I would like to get ALL available tags, stickers, and sheets that has data on it, AND as much detailed information about each vehicle as possible.

Examples of tags, labels, stickers, and sheets:

VIN
Body/Buck Tag (behind grill/headlamps)
Vehicle Certification Label (on driver-door or door jamb)
Axle Tag (on differential cover)
Build sheet (anywhere inside the vehicle)
Owner Card
Warranty Tag (originally affixed to Owner Card)
Windows Sticker/Invoice

And then ALL information about the vehicle....

exterior color
interior color
seat type and material
current mileage
options (A/C, windows, locks, tilt, cruise, rear defrost, stereo, premium sound, console, door mirrors, sunroof, T-roof, wheels, wheel covers, louvers, rear wiper, and so on....)

Heres a pic of the door tag. As for the buck tag seems to be missing. This car has been converted to all svo running gear. It has a/c. Black interior with the recaro seats. It has the black and white checked centers on the seats. The exterior is to tone. Red upper with black lower. Turbo rs stickers with the long thin stripes running above the wheels.

Sorry, the last post didn't come out like I expected, shoulda anticipated that.
Here is one easier to decipher:
PAINT 27,DSO 17
BODY 61, VR blank, MLDG blank, INTERIOR TRIM HA, AC N, R blank, S blank, AX R, TR 2??HH.
Numbers in the upper right hand corner in the box are FO172 and RO 104.
I bought this car from the 2nd owner and it's pretty much still all original except for the TRXs, which he had.
Almost forgot, it has dealer installed cruise.

This is an interesting topic. You may want to consider Document Management. It is used in the business world to organize paper and other records in digital format. All the information is digitized, indexed and stored on hard drives.

It sounds a lot more complex than it is. Here is a link to some open source DMS that I found in a quick search.

ponydude: Thank you for the info! The '83 Turbo RS is the least common of all the '83/'84 Turbo RSes and GTs so VINs are hard to come by, as well as complete VC Labels and Buck Tags. Another one that was posted had AC = H and TR = 2JJHH. Are yours the same or is AC = N? Are you sure R = [blank]? Does yours have delay wipers and or tilt steering? Approximate mileage?

I've got the CAC sheet from Ford on my car. I don't have a picture of the buck tag or a copy of the info yet. The door tag is gone due to the door, hood, LF fender, and nose having been stolen before I bought it. I'll make an effort to get the buck info ASAP. The car is in my mother's garage at the moment, still there from when I retired from the USAF. I'll add this to my album.

The door tag is hard to make out, but here is what I was able to read:

INT Trim = HA
A/C = 1
Body = 61
R = 87??

Mileage ~ 49k
Options = PS/PB, AC
Manual window / door locks
Power gas door

Nope, date is totally unreadable on the door tag.

I ran a car fax on this car when I first bought it, no history on mileage, etc. However the NCIB is 12/21/83 (and it's a slapper bar car)

Other requests:
delay wipers = Y
cruise = N
rear defrost = Y
tilt steering = Y
premium sound = Y

The AC code is definately an N (checked it again). Could be a dealer add on, but everything looks too original. I recently replaced the compressor, accumulator, and orfice tube (cut and install) and it worked for a while, but I've still got a small leak. I used parts from O'Reilleys. Everything looks factory.
It does have interval wipers.
Just glad I could contribute.

Fox no buck tag i could find. It has been swaped to 85 svo stuff and the cluster is svo. It just triped 100k on that cluster. When i bought the car from a member here he bought it from the second owner and never swaped the title. It was an alabama title and he bought it in 82 with 26k on it. I was told the doner svo was an 85 that was that was wrecked in 86 and auctioned to the owner of my capri. He did the swap.

It does have a/c and i belive it came that way. I have the origanal recaro seats for it. It currently has intermitent wipers and no cruise. But i can't be sure the sterring column and related items are not from the svo.

rear louvers
rear wiper
premium sound

Your Turbo RS was ordered with factory A/C. (The "A" under A/C on the VC Label is proof.)
